I don't have to tie them together everyone knows they are both devout Mormon's and as Mormon's they share the same belief system.

your tying together of the two betrays an enormous lack of understanding as to how these things work.

i don't think he is able to wrap his mind around correct usage of the apostrophe, much less variance in beliefs among members of the same religion.

Actually, he is correct on this. They share the exact same beliefs. As do I. Anyone who is a member of the LDS church shares the same beliefs.
