so just relax and wait for the inevitable.

Sure, if you hang around my place you will hear me talk about depopulation too. It's a major problem for the whole world and it's not surprising that it's on people's minds and that people are suggesting solutions , some of which may be very harsh.
IMO, one way or another it's going to happen. Our current situation is very precarious and it would take only few major disruptions to bring the whole game down like a house of cards.
This is just people talking. Where's the evidence for a shadowy elite planning to eliminate 97% of the human race?
