All mine are MG too. Some MG Soil, but then MG organic mostly. And I'm using some Blue granules too.

I think most people's sense of taste and smell are unremarkable when it comes to weed and I don't believe for a second that you can tell weed grown in MG versus weed grown in anything else if even a minimal amount of flushing is used. I remember the the taste of the Jamaican from the seventies but for me sometimes good green weed just tastes like good green weed.
It's like wine..... People are willing to pay $100.00 bucks a bottle for a Merlot but really can't tell it apart from the $10.00 a bottle Merlot. Ha Ha.. If you tell someone they are drinking really good expensive wine they believe you. Of course in the case of weed the stone ultimately tells the story.
I wait for the day when someone discovers the trace elements that unlock the weed secret. The one nute that sets weed apart from every other plant in the garden.

The way I do it is do a flush once every 30 days and when I do it I do a 3 to 4 stage one with 2 to 3 parts in each.
The first 2 are for flushing and the last 1 or 2 is to PH the soil.

Nop just every 30 days its flush time. Helps keep control of the build up salts and scuh and the PH of the soil. If it has to be done before then because some thing happens and its needed then I do it but how weak I feed mine I'm not worried about PH problems in the soil for the 30 days.

yea cool man i fully agree MG is good 2 gro with n it does get alot of negative feedback. I used it all my grows. Got beatiful top nugs with it. Thumbs up 2 MG

npk is npk. nh3 is nitrogen amonia aka piss. in fox farm they use slow release nh2, basicaly bugs eat the nh2 and then piss out drops of nh3... which the plant eats(mg uses nh3)
I do use MG, However i mix it with other fertalizers to get the npk ratio i desire.
*piss also has an npk of 50-0-0. so 1 cup piss + 3 cups water = 12.5-0-0

Amen Brick Top. How about you blow me. I'm just kidding and I agree 100%. MG is not the best choice by any stretch but it's one of the cheapest. I like to get my nutes as much as possible from the compost heap and seaweed tea. I also piss on my compost heap but I don't think the tomatoes taste like wizz!!
MG is easy and cheap and no one can question that it works. Better alternatives you ain't kidding.

I have no idea if any of those prices are still near to being accurate, but the point is there are other options without spending a ton, and when you add the more costly options there are MANY better options than Miracle-Gro.
Miracle-Gro's marketing has it in most everyone's mind as soon as they first begin to think about fertilizers and it is so easy to find that often times someone new or who has a lesser budget will not even think to try to find something that more or less is in the same price range that is going to be better.
It's not total crap, but it is not like it is the only or best choice in it's price range.
One more thing .... if I ever pay you a visit please remind me to not sample your tomatoes!

Your a pretty funny old guy Brick and I resent the string remark. May be true, but I still resent it. I would also put Peter's on your list of acceptable water soluble nutes. Guys who use MG had better understand that it's value is very short lived. Fast action but leaches right thru. I will say you are right about using LESS than the recommended amount. You should ALWAYS use less. Like a fired bullet...You can't take it back. I would also recommend powdered rather than pelletized lime.
Lime is generally released very slowly I believe. Not sure what constitutes fast acting lime.If I'm going to use a fert that is not sludge based the epsoma products are pretty good. I use their little bags of gypsum in my outdoor holes. It's supposed to open up soils with a lot of clay. I am getting to the point where I think sharp sand does the same thing but I do know guys who use crushed drywall. Same thing I think and I do cringe when I pay for gypsum.
I don't know the color burst stuff but the Peter's 0-5-5 water soluble chit ain't bad for the buck. Like I said, most of my nutes come from teas and compost. I have enough fish heads, Lobster bodies, and skins in my compost but it still smells good after it gets cooked in the heap.
I am sitting here looking at a jar of Schultz's "Orchid Food" (19-31-17) and just can't figure out what it has that any other fert doesn't except a big price tag!. The jar does say derived from urea and urea phasphate which brings us back to pee.
