This is my plans for next year...I'm going to dig 1' holes add alfalfa, straw and horse manure and then pill on the excess dirt on top of that to make a mound and let that sit all winter. Should I add the bat guano also so it's not so "hot" when it comes time to plant or what should I do?

What type of bat guano should i use and how should I use it? I want to add it to the soil for long term nute release but I don't want to burn my ladies. I've heard this stuff does wonders for the garden, you just can't use to much.

Use some seabird guano. Put it in now to cook in the soil it should be good and ready by April . it is not all that fast of a release anyway. dirrtyd

You can add directly into the soil, top dress, or brew bat guano into a tea. Bat guano is one of the few organic nutrients that is water soluble so the use is pretty flexible. Use high N guano during veg and high P guano for flower.

How many lbs of seabird guano do I need for 10 plants? I will be adding it straight to the soil for slow release. And do I need to add anything else to the soil or will that be sufficient?

I would do tea with the guano...but you can add it in now, I would just be afraid it would wash away. Also...deffinately get some worms from a local nursery, and add them into each hole, they will completely enrich the zone and have plenty of kids by the time your plants get in the ground. Also think about adding some rock phosphate, and if you really want to enrich the zone plant nitrogen fixating legumes on top. Also consider comfrey or nettles to compost into the soil too. Perhaps some seaweed also, and humusoil. Anythhing that will increase the microbial life in the soil is good. I have considered taking two inch pvc segments, drilling holes in it, and burrying it into the ground with an end sticking out to increase oxygen flow deeper into the dirt to increase microbial life and increase decomposition

I cant make tea Bc I will be leaving them out in the wilderness for Atleast 1 month before my first sex check. Should I use another type of manure for soil amending? I have just heard bat Guana is the best and I want the best.

Then the worms are deffinately something you will want....dig bigger holes, earthworm castings are the best manure you can get imo...got anything planned for the deer?

Shizz, so you mean mix all of that together in the 3 foot hole and leave it in the hole for awhile to sit so it will cool off. Or do you mean if I wait it will get hotter?

And about the deer.. I would like to but I don't want to put up any wiring or anything that will draw any attention.

While I really dont know this at all, but perhaps spraying something they dont like to smell, like chilli water on everything around them might keep them out

Oh, and mix the ferts into the soil so it isnt so immediately strong when you put the plants in the ground.

Well deer have a great sense of smell and when I go hunting I have to put on a spray to take my smell away. So Mayb I can just throw down some of my hair around the area. I might give the chilli spray and try along with the hair.

I wasnt gonna say amything cause I thought it would sound dumb, but check around at hunter supply stores to see if anyone carries synthetic urine. I know they keep deer piss to mask your scent while hunting, maybe there is synthetic predator piss around to buy. Also, go for hikes, collect any predator shit you find, coyotes, dog even, butountain lion or bear would be best. Leave it around your zone, that and synthetic piss could keep them out.

But I think the chilli pepper water would be a good idea.... Buy a pound of various super spicey peppers, boil them in water, get a sprayer and spray down the whole area. A whiff of that and the deer probably wont be liking it....they have really sensitive noses and chilli peppers heat and smell lasts a long time....

I second bigger holes, thats the best lesson we learned this year. and pull before hunting season starts. deer suck, I have heard good things about a product called liquid fence. a little pricey but if it saves you from losing your shit its worth every penny...

I really like Subcools soil mix it contains everything you need.
