Some observations:
I noticed my thermometer was reading above 80 degrees consistently now. Is that too hot? Am I maybe cooking them? The heating mat at it's lowest setting may be too hot.
The amount of condensation on the inside of the dome would have you believe it's too wet, but in fact, it seems that my mediums are drying out quite quickly.
I keep the vents open, but don't open the lid normally. I am confused because some people say keep the lid on, don't touch em, they need lots of humidity. Some say open the lid a couple times a day, they need more air. Not sure which is the right call here.
Some of the stems seemed completely shriveled up below the medium, almost dehydrated, and way beyond wilty. What would this be?
For cloning, is 24 hour lighting a better option for more consistent environment? Maybe the fluctuations in temp with lights on and off is stressing them out in my case?
The stems I cut tend to be small in diameter, but healthy, and green. Should I be taking cuts with thicker stems?
I am about to remove half the clones tomorrow, and call time of death, and inspect for roots. This will be 7 days. So we'll see where I'm at.
I ordered a seedling heat mat on ebay, the one I'm using is a heating pad that isn't designed for horticultural use, so it gets a little hot I think.
Once that arrives, then I will begin another set of clones, and document it start to finish with advice from you folks along the way. I think it will be helpful for others like myself who struggle with cloning to watch me go through the steps and see where I make any mistakes.
