In real time, I'm at Day 37. Here are some pics along the way. Days 18 - 26 enjoyed fairly moderate weather; temps in the room were nice and the girls were happy.

At 18 days, the trays of OG were all making their way through the trellis.

Eight Madagascar fill the aisle. Here a couple Madi girls strut their stuff while their sisters are being watered.

I'm eighteen and I like it!

Deuce-deuce. At 22 days, we are starting to see the OG take shape.

At 25 days, the Madi are begining to fill the floor. Most have been staked at this point.

Day 25 - Pornstar OG, and Skywalker OG. This round is mostly Pornstar, but I have 8 Skywalker OG as well; the shorter plants in the front row.

Madi looking sassy at 26 days young.

I will continue to get this journal up to present over the next few posts. The new room is looking choice, but still not live! I know. I've been busy, and there was/is quite a bit of work to do. I will be posting pics of the new room shortly...

Yo Bra. Glad to hear you gave those critters the boot! I've been lucky this round too; knockin' on wood for both of us! Speaking of wood - those Madi bitches turn me on too! :-)

I'll get some pics of the controller posted today. I don't want to spoil the surprise, though you've likely seen an ad or heard a snippet or more of info already. I want to be the first to show you, just in case you guys have not seen. I will give you a hint... The parent company is Digital Aquatics. I heard a couple years ago they wanted to get into the hydroponics industry. They have, but under a different name. Again, I have yet to actually try this product, but I am excited to run it in the new zone.

The new zone has been built pretty much to spec. My plans were realistic! I changed things up a bit from the layout but not much. I upped the hoods to 8", and bumped the light exhaust fans to the same size; nothing but 8" fans and holes! This is my new easy method of doing 4 - 10 lighters. I use nothing but 8" fans for intake and exhaust for the room and the lights. I quit reducing! haha I now adjust the number of fans needed in increments of 750CFM (the rating of a typical 8" fan). If necessary, speed controllers can balance the positive/negative pressure diff between exhaust and intake.

What would I take as disrespect, Hell? No worries - it's all good! It doesn't hurt my feelings if you think my plants are stretchty. I'd love to burn ya down and show you how these tall girs taste! I'm not sure if you are referring to the Madi or the OG. Both are sativa dominant strains and the have quite a bit of stretch. They won't grow much more now in height, though the buds will continue to swell. The Madi produces big hard buds and is known to be a big yielder. I routinely get 1.75 - 2 under a 1000 watt light (as do others). I will get a pound from these 8 small Madi on the floor. The Madi is a Haze/Skywalker OG cross. The OG in it is undetectable (IMHO), but some of the growth traits are noticeable. The madi has a unique nose and taste, but it is very much along the lines of a classic Haze. It's not my fav, but patients love it, and it provides a lovely "get things done" high. The OG stretches more than the Madi and produces smaller, yet ROCK hard nugs of the finest smoke I have tried to date (real OG). A pound of real OG under a 1000 watt light is solid, though more is certainly possible for good growers. I typically get just under a pound with 600s. I typically get about 1.25+ under a 1000w. I got just under 3 lbs last time under 2400 watts (4 x 600) in this zone. I am hoping to top 3lbs in the OG trays this time around.

I've been working with the Pornstar for years now and have tried it all ways - Aero, SOG ebb and flow, every size pot from 1 gallon to 20 gallon with all types of mediums, under all types of lights and the sun. I have found that letting them grow naturally (stretchy!) and supporting them produces the best yields for the return on your work. I still think the aero tastes best, but it's a little more work to keep your reservoirs in check, and a power failure can be fatal.

Not at all, Bra! You didn't offend me at all, really! I appreciate your support and interest. I apologize if my answer got a little lengthy and off topic! :-) I will post some more pics so you can see how these sativa dominant genetics mature.

I will go 56 - 60 days with these. It's pretty damn good at 50 days, but you really need to go 56+ to finish it right. There seems to be no good reason for me to go beyond 9 weeks... though it's been a long time since I shot for a 9 or 10 weeks finish. My feeding style seems to make em finish nicely at 56. Others swear 9 weeks as a minimum and routinely do 10, citing "bigger yields and deeper, earthier, more complex flavors". OG is definitely a 'heavier' buzz the more you go past 56 days. I agree, the flavor does seem to get earthier. At 56, the sweetness is still up front, and the chem flavor dominates. The earth tones are there but more present in the taste and finish than in the nose. At 56 days the high seems to be more uplifting to me - though OG medicine is always extremely versatile.

The new room got delayed a bit, but it is moving forward. Just about all the goodies are installed and I really want to kick it up before Turkey Day. We'll see...

I've been taking pics along the way. Here are a few shots of the equipment selections. Again, this is going to be a solid, quality, grow, but there is a budget. I went with what I consider to be the most bang for the buck!

The New Magnum XXXL's sport 7 new features. I hope they cured the leaks! I went with the 8" models - for increased air flow and a larger lens than the 6" models. Not really, it was just what was in stock and they gave me a great deal.

Nothing more satisfying than a six pack of Quantum! Eight 600 watt Quantum ballasts will send the juice to the bulb!

Six 8" Oracle inline fans, three DustShrooms for the intake ports, and four 16" Oracle oscillating fans will help create the perfect environment.

I've never tried the Humboldt trays but they seem nice. They retail for more than Botanicare, but I paid considerably less. Six of these trays provide just under 100 sq feet of grow space. 9 plants per tray is the current plan.

In real time, the room is quite further along. All the lights and fans are hung. All the structural modifications are complete, and the majority of ducting is installed. Following posts will continue to update in accelerated mode until I get current.

LR, nice update on both. your room is looking killer, thinking your a bit ahead of your last grow at this time. possably more bud sites on the og than before, you think the mites could have something to do with that last run or am i just seeing things? the madi def is happier than last round looks like. may be they are sitting in better light with the shorter og in the front row lol. bet you could t off with those golf balls when cured out, they are already looking dense small as they are. going to be some christmas ornaments soon :)
The grow room sounds solid. I know your anxious to get up and running by turkey day n im sure your putting the time in to make it happen. Good luck n post up some pics soon as you get things running. im with you on the cooling and ventilation, more is always easier to throttle down than never having enough. amazing how hard it is to convince some people of the basics of mechanics.
know your busy but im about to do update when i finish here, when you get time check it out. you gona like what ya see :)

ya outta try using panda film sometimes. Easy to make a door with it, and is MORE reflective than mylar, not to mention it lasts longer. It'll help keep your area more contained.

Here are pics of the current room from days 28 - 37. This brings us up to present as I am currently at day 38. There's been a cool streak the last week and they slowed up on their feed, but everything is looking good.

I pulled a few random leaves with just a spot of PM. I did a sulfur burn on Monday, and will follow up next week with another 45 minute blast. That will probably be the last sulfur burn unless something changes.

So far, I am quite pleased. Everything is on course. I think I'm more on par this time. I got all three layers of trellis in, had healthier starting material, and no pests to deal with (no Azatrol spray this round after week 1).

I've been using Botanicare, Humboldt, and Bloom products - alternating with organic teas. Pretty much the same as last time, though I've been tweaking my ratios and PPM's a bit. The cooler weather has allowed me to feed at wider intervals too. I notice I got the Madi just a little hot on the last feed; just a hint of tip burn. The Madi seems to top out around 1200ppm in my setup. I know others with 1000's and CO2 running close to 2K at peak with this strain of Madagascar. The actual composition of the feed probably makes a difference too.

28 Days later: OG Kush.

Madagascar doesn't look a day over 29 at Day 30.

Trays of OG Kush at Day 30.

The Room at Day 32; Madagascar on the floor while OG Kush takes the top bunk.

OG Kush the day after BigUp.

I can't get in take a picture of the biggest buds, but this mid-size model will be excellent transportation for most families! Skywalker OG at 37 days.

This brings us up to the present at Day 38.

Hey In the Woods! Thanks for stopping by. I've used my share of Panda film. You're right, it's great stuff. In this case, I opted for walls and paint.

Yo Bra! No doubt, I think things are looking better this round too - but I'm not really complaining about last round. I'll take that every time. I don't want to be greedy or start forecasting my score on the 13th hole, but I think we are on course. I put the tallest plants in the middle this time, with the tall and midsize on the back row, and the shortest Skywalker (10 days less veg) in the front. The Madi were also better from the start, and I put some support stakes in earlier. I could still do better with tomato cages, but I could not find any in town when I needed em! They are too big for the hydro stores to stock, and the big garden sections at Home Depot, etc only have them in season. I will post a pic of another grow with the same Madi using tomato cages; all 70 - 100+ gram plants.

The grow room sounds solid. I know your anxious to get up and running by turkey day n im sure your putting the time in to make it happen. I'm gonna go check your scene now. I'm not gonna be up by tomorrow, but I am really close. I still have too many little things to take care of. With Turkey Day upon us, it will probably be Monday now... There's no point rushing or starting without the mechanics in check. I will pull the trigger when it's ready; and even then, you know something will pop up in a new zone! I will post more progress shots as I work up to launch day.

Talk soon!

I bought the last few things for the room today. Here are a few more shots. I snapped these last week. In real time, I'm almost there.

The intake for the light exhaust lanes enters through a single HEPA filtered 8" port.

The single port will branch off to the respective left and right light exhaust lanes.

We'll use a slanted 'Y' to keep the duct runs as natural as possible. Some eyelets through the 'Y' will allow us to hang just where we want it.

She came in through the bathroom window!

The first light meets up just 6" on the other side of the wall.

There's an intake fan hidden up in the corner behind the first light. Tolerances are close on this grow!

This zone took quite a bit of ducting. We went with insulated for all intake use and on much of the exhaust to prevent light leaks through the dampers when opened.

Here are some pics of the exhaust and intake being installed. The tolerances are really tight in this zone but we managed to keep the grow area free of obstruction.

ALL power to the zone will come in at 240 and then get dished back out to the lights at 240, and the rest of the zone at 120, via the PowerBox. Another breaker sits at the junction of the PowerBox and the 240 line.

All exhaust ports were installed on a panel and then mounted in the window frame it replaced. To keep it clean: HEPA filters on all intakes, and dampers on all exhausts.

There goes the view!

Here is the panel installed and ducted.

The Silver Octopus.

There is a long exhaust run over the right light lane.

Take a look down the Magnum XXL 4-light-tunnel.

A long intake run hangs over the left lane of lights.

All power is handled by the PowerBox.

Eight lights hung. These 8 Magnum hoods will throw out a good amount of light in all directions - even with 600 watt bulbs.

Eight is enough.
