Dying Plants month in flower

yeah, I'll continue to flush the plants most affected..it's strange that one or two of them look pretty much fine. Unstable strain?

I've run into all sorts of problems with ocean forest. Any suggestions on a soil for the next go around?

That sucker is starved.

Leaf apoptosis during late bloom is one thing, but those leaves are straight up dying and the buds look tiny... So we know the buds haven't been sucking them dry.

Another victim of Ph issues in FFOF. Stuff seems great for veg but by the middle of flower u get massive problems. Seems to me blending a GOOD amount of lime into this medium is the only way to prevent this issue. Seems to have gnats a lot too damn FF soil.

Strange thing though....I'm runnin' FFOF and I have a couple of times now. My runoff comes out pretty damn low too, around 6.0, BUT my soil's ph is at 6.8.

I water with water that is phed @ 6.5 so it's odd that my soil would be 6.8, water is 6.5 and runoff is sometimes lower, around 6.0. I've even see the meter read 5.8, but I refuse to change anything as long as my soil meter reads that the ph is just fine. I may go ahead and add some lime seeing as others have had trouble, but I think it really comes from how often you feed and water. I've only watered full strength once on this grow. Prior to that it was 1/4 strength only a few times and I'm 3 weeks into flower. I don't see any way that my soil will suddenly drop in ph, but I'll be on the lookout. I may even run to the hardware store and see if I can pick up some lime to chuck on the top of them now.

To the OP...where you checking the ph of your nutrient solution and bringing it back up to 6.8-7.0 before watering with it? I'm thinking that a lot of growers are forgetting this step and then watering with really low phed water for weeks and weeks before it finally starts to have an ill effect.

I always PH'd my water to 6.5 ish after I added nutes. For a couple weeks though I was feeding with almost every watering (about every 3-4 days) with half solution.

I've had a lot of these problems before I fed them anything..this whole grow has been an uphill battle..I assume its due to low ph

thats what i was about to say it looks like N get some mg blood meal sprinkle on top of your dirt and put some ph'd water on it my homie was complaining about the same shit

yeah, I'm pretty sure its a 3 month strain...this problemss shouldn't happen for another month (nitrogen at least)

what you do to your plant in the in the beginning or dont do will eventually catch up to your plant wasent giving my girl cal/mag for 4 weeks into my flower and the lockout started comin i was lucky i saw it before it took any leaf or burnt them

I've done your PH test again.
First I shook up about a tablespoon of soil with distilled water at 6.0 and got a reading of 6.0 I then used regular tap 7.0 and got a reading of 7.0 surly I must be doing this wrong? Maybe because I'm using the PH drops instead of a meter?

Feel your pain. I got nuked by FF once to. Only once because I stopped growing in soil after the poor experience.

Damn...that is what happened with my Fucking Incredible too. I just assumed the strain was balls...Shit, I may just go back to hydro if that shit happens again. Everything seems like it's right on track right now at 4 weeks and like I'm not going to have any problems. At least I know if I do where the culprit is. I didn't use FFOF on ONE soil grow and it turned out just fine, I assumed that was despite not using FFOF, now I'm thinking it's BECAUSE I didn't use it.

I'm going to look into this more. I'm certain that I've seen a lot of successful grows start to finish in FFOF. I don't believe in measuring ph using the water soaking method/slurry method. Just get a soil ph meter and see what it says. I'm going to check mine again in just a few minutes and see if theres a noticeable change. Why would the ph drop after a period of time if not caused by nutrients buildup? Does the medium start to break down for some reason and get acidic? I just don't get it.

Maybe I'll rock some hempy buckets. Experimented with it once, but I have never seen it through.

before ocean forest I used to grow in a soiless mix from bontanicare called ready gro. All was fine, switched to fox farm due to the praises from others and it totally messed me up.
In my experience anyway, the PH of my ocean forest was 5.5-6.0 in VEG, BEFORE I added any nutes..so it isn't just a flowering thing.

I've heard the soil PH meters weren't very accurate from multiple people? who knows though

Here's where I'm at with it. I'm at about 3.5 weeks into flower. I had a little N Deficiency and lower leaves going light on me, I fed with Grow Big during week 3 of flower (per the feeding schedule) and so I've developed "The Claw" a little bit on the biggest plant. That's the last blast of N they'll get regardless of what happens pretty much from here out. You can see in the pics that some lower leaves have turned a little light and that was my signal to feed twice with grow nutes.

I had some problems with one plant that nearly died for no fuckin' reason. It just started to whither and die. I was gonna chuck it, but then some new growth came through green and all of a sudden it just recovered. All green now, I dunno what the fuck because it was watered the same as the others, fed the same, no correction was made, it just fuckin' decided to choke and die, then decided it wanted to live. Who knows?

I'll keep you posted on how it goes and at the end I'll let you know if it came out all crispy or if everything is fine.

On PH Meters - The cheapo ones that the Hydro stores hawk don't work for shit. Unfortunately real ones are expensive, but if you want the truth sometimes you have to pay for it....

This is the only accurate way to test the ph of your soil, not those shitty little probes they sell at the Hydro Store, those are designed for moron's to buy and think that they are ultimately too stupid to use it properly when in reality, it just doesn't work.

What were you feeding them?

I was using Humboldt Duece Duece (0-0-22) and the Natural Bloom (0-10-0) and Phing the water that was it.

I would say go with the canna coco and canna coco nutes. I have seen great results with that. And you can add benes and such. Just make sure u measure the runoff to double check your ph. With coco you can go a lil lower ph too, target Ph is 6.
