Fat kids are a national security risk? OMG i haven't heard such a big piece of BS in a long long time. I doubt if you realize this, but people can lose weight. this may be a foreign idea to you, but it is nonetheless true. I remember Marine Corps boot camp, we had one kid who lost 160 pounds in 4 months. LOL he was fit and trim, not a national security risk at all.

there is no draft, therefore there is no security risk.

"A recent report by Mission: Readiness, an organization made up of retired admirals and generals, found that an alarming 75 percent of all young people aged 17 to 24 are unable to join the military. Many young adults do not qualify because they failed to finish high school or have criminal records, but the No. 1 reason, our report found, is obesity."

I believe the Pentagon agrees. I didn't say it, they did.n Oh, and that is over a pound a day over the course of 4 months, it is hardly likely and if it did occur it may well have been life threatening.

Fat kids can join the military, its 100% fact.

(USA TODAY) More than a third of American youth of military age are unfit for service, mainly because they are too fat or sickly, the Army Times reports, quoting the latest Pentagon figures.
Most of the rest are too dumb or have used too many drugs to qualify, the study shows.
The report says 35% of the 31 million Americans aged 17 to 24 are unqualified because of physical and medical issues.
“The major component of this is obesity,” Curt Gilroy, the Pentagon’s director of accessions, tells the Times. “We have an obesity crisis in the country. There’s no question about it.”
He also said young people, by and large, can’t do push-ups.
“And they can’t do pull-ups,” Gilroy says. ” And they can’t run.”
The Times says the Pentagon gets its data from the Centers for Disease Control, which has found that the percentage of youth 18 to 34 who are considered obese has jumped from 6% in 1987 to 23% now.

Who fucking cares? Why should 75% of American citizens be joining the military anyways? DOES THAT NOT ALARM YOU? Does it not alarm you that our government is looking at the information of our entire base of 18 year olds and wonder whether we can accept them into the military and how to condition them for military life?

WE ARE FAILING IN OTHER PLACES BESIDES OBESITY. If I want to eat, it is my god damn choice to do so. Worry about your own damn health.

Besides, with obesity as a "problem" we are enjoying longer life expectancy than our entire history as human beings. All government regulation has done in this area is create the mass use of Trans Fats which are much worse than what we were dealing with before hand.

Snore, doesn't say fat kids can't join the military. Just says fat kids cannot stay in the military. Guess how many skinny kids who join the Army can't run or do 60 pushups in 2 minutes their first day of Basic? about 75% of them, guess what basic training is for?

If that were true, I could produce a massive boner whenever I wanted and fuck two different women every day.

And spammers would not be a nuisance, they would be GODS.

Does anyone else here see the Irony that he is concerned with peoples health specifically so they can go into the military.

Yeah, we cant have all these fat kids. They are too obese to go into the military and come home in body bags... DAMN THEM!!!

I have been attempting to demonstrate how wrong you are, Mcdonalds is showing itself sucessful in CHANGING PEOPLE'S LIFESTYLE CHOICES, by having them eat more calories, more fat, more sugar and.. more hamburgers.
You assume too much. Who says that every fat person is eating at McDonalds at all? I can sit on my ass and make bologna and cheese sandwiches, loaded with mayonnaise with a Mac & Cheese chaser, chili dogs, pasta pasta pasta, fried chicken and overeat and overeat, while NEVER visiting a fast food place. This is where most obese people load up on empty calories, at home. You have ZERO evidence that obesity is caused by fast food, overeating and poor nutritional choices are certainly part of the equation, but the supermarkets are filled with far deadlier fare, shelves and shelves of it.

Then, at last you agree that Mcdonalds is making us fatter?
Not at all, I still contend our sendentary lifestyle is far more to blame than the fast food industry. (see above)

Firstly, I am using McDonalds as an example as you must know, I include the fast food industry as a whole, and the snack and soda industry as well. Certainly, In the past, when obesity was rare, you could make and eat enough sandwiches to get you fat. There is plenty of correlation with fast food, I know you refuse to examine it. Again, kindly explain to me why, in our history as uneducated as we were in the past, even though we had an abundance of food and the same opportunity to be sedentary we were not a fraction as fat as we are now. No one has addressed this. Why now? I posted numbers indicating that we take in more calories and more fat now than we ever have.

No one said anything about body bags. Speaking of which though, and interestingly, it was found during the Viet Nam war that young dead soldiers had the distinct beginnings of artery damage from their eating excessive and saturated fat. Hardly an issue of a sedentary lifestyle.

yeah, but contrary to popular opinion, saturated fat does not clog arteries. Polyunsaturated fats do the artery clogging by elevating bad cholesterol. But to make you feel somewhat vindicated I will say this. An excess of any food is bad for you.

Everybody in America knows for a fact that fast food is bad for you. Everybody in America knows for a fact that smoking is bad for you. Leave people alone and let them make decisions for themselves. Worry about yourself.

We should be more worried about how the US government now doesn't want flu research companies to publish details citing "terrorism" as the reason why Americans should be kept in the dark.

I am blaming it on the industry itself, what it serves, how it designs the food it serves and how it advertises and markets what it serves. Yes, no matter what each individual is responsible, that doesn't mean they are not heavily influenced by what I just said. You don't want government making choices for you but you have no problem having corporations making choices for you, limiting your choices, enforcing what it claims is the entirety of your choice in a matter. (if you are going to qickly eat out it is going to be a round piece of fatty meat on a bun). The thing is that you actually think that you are preserving your freedoms when all you are doing is continuing to defend corporations killing in a calculated way, huge numbers of Americans. Shall we look at those kind, benevolent corporations you defend? They make decisions based upon their bottom line, Ford determines that it is cheaper to let people burn than fix a gas tank. Tobacco companies figure a smoking lifetime of 50 years, after that they dont care if you get cancer, and Mcdonalds figures if they snag you early enough you will eat their hamburgers until you drop dead of a stroke or contract heart disease, no problem, they got you to eat your 2.5 hamburgers a week for 45 years, then they will move on to the next young consumer.

Yet again, Mcdonalds only purpose is to get you to eat more hamburgers - that is all this huge company fixates on, they will do everything in their power to accomplish this goal.
How much money will McDonalds make if they are actually trying to kill their customer? How long will McDonalds continue to do business to corpses. McDonalds is not trying to poison us, that would be very self defeating. All the items on the menu at McDonalds have GOVERNMENT APPROVAL!!!!!! Since government has approved all this poison then it MUST be government that is behind all the killing!!!! Your logic has been defeated because I just don't see how you can think that the corporation is trying to kill its customers. dead people don't buy hamburgers.

no sir.

your logic is flawed.

we are fighting against the same entity.. the corporations and government are only systems of control - both are in collusion and there is no difference if they are the slave owners.

.

That is the point. If everyone knows this stuff is bad for you, then why do they eat it?

No, the dead don't buy hamburgers but if they can get the living to buy them for 50 years that is plenty and there are plenty more consumers being born. My logic is not defeated at all. Corporations do not look at the long term if they report quarterly and pay dividends yearly. Your argument fails the moment we examine cigarettes, a product that cigarette companies were fully aware kills people and yet they continued to do so and continued to profit heavily from.

I just heard an interesting fact.

If you want to open a hamburger stand in California. It takes 2 years and 57 regulatory permits.
You did EXACTLY what the politician wanted you to do.....repeat his bullshit. True, you have to get some permits and a business license, but it does not take 2 years and 57 permits to open a burger stand. And, yes, burger stands should be regulated, like any other eatery. Some of you guys have obviously never worked in a restaurant before. If you fail an inspection, you get shut down, for the safety of the public. There are plenty of business owners and restaurant owners who will serve food that is borderline rotten, just to keep their food costs in check. Food needs to be kept at certain temperatures to be edible, and many restaurant owners would push this envelope if not for the regulation.

Ten bucks says that your politician was a Republican or some Tea Party numbnut. Sounds like their typical rhetoric. And you ran off, and repeated the lie, without validating the information. This is what bugs me about Republicans.....this type of parroting behavior runs rampant.
