Death Penalty For Gays: Ron Paul Courts The Religious Fringe In Iowa

Ron Paul has faced a torrent of criticism in recent weeks over newsletters printed in his name during the 1980s and 1990s which contained racist, anti-semitic, and homophobic content. He is also on the hook for accepting the support of fringe right-wing groups. While Paul dismisses these concerns, his campaign seems to have no problem working with and enjoying the support of anti-gay extremists, including one supporter who has called for the implementation of the death penalty for homosexual behavior.

Paul’s Iowa chair, Drew Ivers, recently touted the endorsement of Rev. Phillip G. Kayser, a pastor at the Dominion Covenant Church in Nebraska who also draws members from Iowa, putting out a press release praising “the enlightening statements he makes on how Ron Paul’s approach to government is consistent with Christian beliefs.” But Kayser’s views on homosexuality go way beyond the bounds of typical anti-gay evangelical politics and into the violent fringe: he recently authored a paper arguing for criminalizing homosexuality and even advocated imposing the death penalty against offenders based on his reading of Biblical law.

So far the Ron Paul campaign has not addressed the issue nor have they distanced themselves from this whackadoodle.

This bullshit press didn't work for Obama, what makes them think it will work on Ron Paul?

And Obama attended Louis Farrakhan's Million Man March, so therefore he is accountable for all the raciest crap that guy spews? I'll gladly dig up some gems on Farrakhan or "The Rev"Jeremiah Wright should you need reminding of how Obama's buddies swing.
Come on Carne, don't you have more on Ron Paul than a 30 year old scrap of paper?

He did let it rip when he was punked by Sasha Baron Cohen recently, LOL. He truly hates gays, blacks and Israel. Sad to say that I gave LOTS of money to his campaign in 08 and worked for his campaign on the state level. The guy is a train wreck and anyone that votes for him is wasting their vote.

Is it hatred to be made uncomfortable by a homosexual? Plenty of females are made uncomfortable by a guy hitting on them, does that make them have hatred for all men?

Quite frankly, Sasha Cohen is annoying. Most guys would have beat the shit out of him for what he was doing to Ron Paul, and many of those guys probably have no problem with Homosexuals. Sexual harassment is illegal for a reason.

I believe that to judge a heterosexual man who is made uncomfortable by advances of a homosexual as hating homosexuals is clear and definitive bigotry. Those who point the finger should turn their finger on themselves, but who am I to say? This is what our country has become. You either love them or hate them. You are either with us or you're against us. You are either right or you are crazy.

I totally agree. If RP was the fighter type he probably would have punched him; in fact he almost did anyway. They don't make me uncomfortable but then it's been a long time since I've been hit on but it creeped me out when that happened. When I was 12 years old, I was assaulted by three gay guys. Two of them held me down and one of them styled my hair. I've been in therapy. :)

the press is going to rip anyone who wasnt an angel in there past to shreds. i think candidates that may have had different views about things in the past should let people know yeah i once thought that way in my younger years but im older now and see things differently i think the public would understand. and really what straight guy really cares about gay marriage it makes most men uncomfortable.

So are hate crimes. Most guys could have been charged with one if they did as you say.

i thought he handled that quite well, actually.

he did say that cohen was a 'queer', but that word is a mere umbrella term for someone in the lgbt community and probably the least offensive one i can think of.

now if you want proof that he is happy to discriminate against gays on a federal level, look no further than hr 7955.

It must be really tough on politicians to respond to something like that - knowing it's going to wind up on national news. It would have been hilarious if RP had recognized SBC and played along and punked him instead, LOL. I should elaborate on the "creeped me out" part. It used to creep me out, but I have had several friends that have come out of the closet in the last few years and it didn't change my friendship one bit with them.

My daughters best friend was a gay guy, a hair stylist protege of hers. She said he never asked to borrow makeup or clothes and he even brought her clothing and makeup! She could also go out with him and not get hit on by other guys. They were inseparable for years but he stabbed her in the back recently over some clients. I told my daughter he was probably desperate and that can trump friendship when you're trying to come up with your next meal. Her business was doing great; she is married to a movie producer / director and living life large in Venice Beach. He just moved to L.A. less than two years ago and is still struggling, and he's even been to Paul Mitchell's school.

Oh nd in case some wish to insinuate that I am a homophobe...my best friend, almost brother, and roommate is as gay as they get.

I've had to run for my life on several occasions due to women wanting to "fix me". I don't know why, but they always see my being gay as a challenge. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "Well, you just haven't met the right woman yet."

So there are hazards on both sides of the aisle. ;)

LOL! Sorry could'nt resist! I am a Paul supporter myself. I think it's about time we stopped destroying foreign countries and then turning around and saying "Oh did we do that?" and spending billions in money that could be used to employ, feed, and house our own to rebuild their countries.

explain hr 7955 then.

on second thought, don't. we have talked about it before and you simply lie about it.

Did you want to start a debate about the bullshit phenomenon known as "hate crimes?"
