Ordered My First Spores!

Hahahahahaha well done sir! i just kinda figure some low light while fruiting would benifit them. Nothing to over power em but enough to perk em up and get a little extra warmth. Plus u could leave it on a little bit longer and not have to worry. Lol idk worth a shot
 
Haha thanks true i might try that lol.. they dont give off any heat rly tho. Idk wut im gna do yet for heat when fruiting..
 
you need more heat for colonization than fruiting...the cooler the temps the thicker the fruit...I try to fruit around 60-65 degrees...and less heat means less chance on contams...hth

See i always wanted to know if they could fruit in cooler temps hopefully it works out for me
 
Well shit there we go lol china lamps might work hahhahahaha. would those temps slightly slow down growth any or is it still pretty much the same?

There isnt much light that gets to the room anyhow. Both windows r covered and the doors shut so even n the day its pretty damn dark lol. Don't worry about light on the mycelium, it doesn't matter (unless you are shooting for perfect pinsets). And don't worry about light to fruit either, ambient daylight, incandescent, flurescent, doesn't matter, you don't need special lighting at all and they will fruit in the darkness as well, though they will not look very pretty - long stems and tiny caps. Even a tiny hint of light, just a few seconds a day is enough to trigger decent flushes and you will find that all of the fruit leans toward whatever light they have or had.

I think you are actually better off with higher temps when it comes to contamination, it is true that contamination grows slower at the lower temperatures but so too does the myclium, and the quicker you have full colonization, the less chance you have of getting mold invasions. In most cases, you either have contamination or you do not so temperatures don't matter at all - that is unless you go up beyond around 85 which will inhibit mycelial growth but not necessarily conatmination.
 
Wait so you dont need heat to fruit them? I can jus throw em in a plastic box w/bottom full of moist perlite & leave em to fruit in no light?
 
you'll need some light...I use indirect sunlight in my spare room...and temps should be around 60-65 for fruiting....don't forget to mist and fan if you don't have an automated system...gl
 
Checked up on the jars a bit ago and growth looks good and steady. Pretty much all growth points are about double the size of the last pic. The creeper jars have absolutly no growth n them. Not really sure whats goin on with them but for now im lettin em sit with the otheres. I isolated 1 of the alacabenzi jars. Its has the least amount of growth of the 3 jars and but one side looks kinda funky. Its not like the othere jars and how they look with the brf/verm mix. The spot is a fairly good size and has an almost yellowish tan color to it. It almost looks like mycelium growth but imagine it super thin, not round n shape and just kinda odd looking. So im gonna watch that one pretty close over the next few days. ill try and get a pic of it but idk how well itll work. Besides that the temps were good (around 82F) and most of the jars look good so im pretty happy so far
