.. i've been looking for some info on contanier size / shape and can't really find any info on what i'm really looking for...
so, here's my deal.. in my grow area, i have plenty of room height wise, but only about a 2 x 3 area deep and wide.. i was wondering what would happen if i were to use smaller pots that weren't so wide, but had plenty of depth to them instead.. would the roots still have plenty of room to grow with lots of depth, or would they only grow so far down, then get root bound??
i remember reading once in a high times article were it said that plants would only branch out as wide as their pots were, which is why people who grow in beds get bigger yields and bigger plants vs pots.. but this was a hightimes article, and i'm not niave enough to believe everything i read in ithere..
like i said, i've been doing some research on this topic for well over a year or so now, and can never really find any real info on it at all, so i was wondering if anyone on here has any experience on this subject..
would 3 gallons of pot space be the same if say the 3 gallons were to be in a 10 inch wide pot x say 15 inches deep as if it were 3 gallons total but say only 4 inches wide buy 30 inches deep or w/e?? is 3 gallons equal to 3 gallons despite pot size and shape i guess is the real question..
thanks in advance to any and all input...
