Marijuana - Gateway drug or myth?

Drugs: A man-made and/or organic substance used to change &/or alter the way the users body &/or mind functions or feels.

In that statement, was it made aware that a drug is an illegal man-made &/or organic substance?
I don't believe so.
Therefore, many drugs exist in today's society, legal & illegal alike.

Gateway Drugs: A habit-forming drug that is not addictive but it's use may lead to the use of other addictive drugs.
In that statement, was it made aware that the drug in question is not addictive?
I believe so.
(Remember this for later)

So with those two definitions in order, we can begin to narrow down the list of drugs, in order to find our gateway drug.

Now, we can go threw a list of hundreds an thousands and even millions of drugs.
Technically, Big Mac's can be considered drugs, considering they are man-made, used to change the way the body feels.
How do they change the bodies feeling? From hungry to full of course.
...& since Big Mac's are not addictive, they count.

A question that easily fools politicians & law makers alike is, "If marijuana is addictive, how is it a gateway drug, if gateway drugs are not addictive?"
I'm certain you won't get a clear-cut answer, because... there simply isn't a clear-cut answer to a hypocritical situation.
So based off these key facts of knowing what drugs & gateway drugs are, any 2nd grader can put it together, marijuana cannot be a gateway drug.
Now, we all know politicians can be sneaky with there way or wording, so they might slip out of that question.
So here's what we ask in return...

Alcohol is definitely a organic/man-made, mind &/or body altering substance, even though legal, still considered a drug.
Depending on who you ask, it could be or cannot be addictive.
Average age a person tries alcohol? 11 years old.

Tobacco is definitely a organic/man-made, mind &/or body altering substance, even though legal, still considered a drug.
Depending on who you ask, it could be or cannot be addictive.
Average age a person tries smoking? 13 years old.

Marijuana is definitely a organic, mind &/or body altering substance, even though illegal, still considered a drug.
Depending on who you ask, it could be or cannot be addictive.
Average age a person starts smoking marijuana? 14 years old.

That list was compiled within minutes, so you can't tell me the smartest people in the world can't figure this out.
No matter what way you look at it, marijuana cannot be a gateway drug.
It doesn't even top out at #1 on the list of currently used drugs.

MYTH. Surprisingly, Alcohol would be the gateway drug.

I read this and the rest of your post just got a face palm. You're not old enough to remember 'Drug Stores?'

I think most people on Earth know there are drugs illegal and legal like, to semi-quote you. What was the point of that? It made me laugh.
I think most people know marijuana is not a gateway drug as well.
But you still opened the thread.
What was the point of that?
...Makes me sort of laugh.
Lol.

EDIT:

I will also answer the question, in order to not appear to be avoiding it, or appear to be a dick.
The point of it was simple, just to point out the KEY-facts, nothing more, nothing less.
Any good argument needs to be backed with good knowledge.
The more knowledge you contain & USE - key word there, "USE" - the better.
That's all... really. Lol.

Is English your first language? I think you need to clarify what you mean. This just doesn't make sense here.

It makes perfect sense, just read it.
Is English your first language?

Also, depending on how technical a person wants to be on the manner (not yourself) just in general.
English by today's standards is nothing more then a slang form of English.
I haven't met a person in all my time living in California that speaks ENGLISH.
I have heard people speak many broken forms of English.
What we speak in America can only be summed up as American.
Go look up the original English language, how it was spoken, you'll see nobody speaks "English" anymore.

... Just saying.

Dammit man you still didn't make enough sense in the amount of time you have been allowed.

By saying a drug is a man made or organic substance that changes someone's body and brain chemistry in no way alludes to a 'drug' being illegal.

I'll wait here.

I know nobody in America says they speak American.
THAT'S THE POINT I WAS MAKING!
Everyone in America believes they speak English.
Which is (sorry) wrong.
They speak a very watered down, slanged out, broken form of the original English language.
If you took time to rehash on history, you would clearly see English isn't just about English words.
It's about how those words were used/combined with one another, to sound "proper" - which isn't us.
I was born, raised, & currently reside in California, I'm not afraid to speak against the ignorance of this country.

Actually smoke a cigerette when I was like 11 or 12.... Then I tried Little Alcohol.... Then later I thought I experience the green*, never had desire to try any drugs or switch... If anything it's a gateway to look at things another way.... And come up with solutions to make your life better or jus relief of all types.... And all the rest

The gateway theory has no validity. Just because you smoke marijuana doesn't mean yur automatically a canidate for harder drugs or make you feel th need to use harder drugs. If you drink alcohol, according to the gateway theory, you must have started by drinking milk or any other drink because certainly you don't just pick somthing up and try it right? I think the gateway theory is just a load of shit that we were told when we were little so we'd believe it.

Since you know the ENGLISH language so well, please tell me, which was my original question where illegal is alluded from this quote.

Edit: 'Drug' does not mean 'illegal' hence my 'drug store' reference earlier. Seriously?

  • EDIT:
What I said was, "What we speak in America can only be SUMMED UP as American.
That word "summed" means something, look it up.
I never once stated that anyone claims to speak American, I said they MIGHT AS WELL say they're speaking American.
Of course American is not a language, nor will it ever be.
It's my way of saying, we don't speak English, the American people (including myself) butchered that language long ago.
