the hell we aren't.

if you've ever seen how people with disparate opinions on this politics sub-forum group up against people we dislike, imagine that on a larger, national scale.

americans may be divided at home, but threaten us and we will fuck up anything that is not us.
That doesn't make us the sole super power. That just makes us Psychotic douche bags with emotional control issues like the testosterone freaks on Jersey Shore.

I believe American's would go to war with an inanimate object when they feel threatened by it. Good observation.

I stand here in defeat..

i don't know why anyone would want to attack us. they may feel compelled based on our world-policing actions, but i doubt they WANT that.

in any case, we will fuck up whatever or whoever tries to attack us and win.

so wipe that smirk off your face, northern ireland. your spud guns ain't shit compared to our nuclear arsenal.
First off, people don't "hate America", people hate the arrogant "America Fuck Yeah Bomb the World!!" people who give your countrymen a bad name.

Secondly is an example of why people dislike the above. First off I'm not from Northern Ireland, but why would you threaten me and talk about your "nuclear arsenal"? We didn't threaten you, but you have to be all macho and try to swing your cock around showing off. Btw since you're being smart, Northern Ireland is part of the UK, which also has a massive arsenal of submarine launched missiles...threaten Northern Ireland and all you'd get would be M.A.D.

When was the last time we were attacked? 1940's (Luftwaffe bombed Dublin accidentally thinking it was London, Hitler apologised). Noone wants to fight us cos we don't interfere with other countries or get involved in foreign warfare. Perhaps that model would be more wisely applied to US policy?

no dice.

we fuck other people up. we are america.

threaten us in any way, prepare to be crushed.

this statement comes from a very pacifistic liberal.

I believe there are historical processes unfolding and that America is essential to them. What's unfolding is the process of globalization. It is a good thing, and if we don't fuck it up and revisit the dark ages, it will bring a world with no war and no poverty within the lifetimes of many on this board.

But the process is not unfolding unopposed. There are those who see a very different future. A future that looks more like 1000 years in the past. So there will be perturbations along the way and many of them will be called wars. If they are fought to advance the cause of globalization and connectivity, then I say they are worth it. If parts of the world need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, then so be it. The hard core ideologues determined to stop it - hunt them down and kill them.

There is a future worth creating out there and it's too important to give up to a pack of thugs in a time warp.

This is what Ron Paul can't see, and why he is an isolationist.

I dont think this is true. We live on a planet with limited resources.

If you examine life it competes from the one celled micro-organisms up to man for those limited resources. Every living thing in this world is in constant competition.

Given that life evolves by competing I find it hard to see a time where there will be none of the things you stated.

Maybe the inability to see that future is our greatest shortcoming.

UB its called the American spirit, look at the wild west. We as a people have never been good at getting fucked with. We dropped two atom bombs to prove that very point. It seems like that has faded in the memory of the world. War sucks but when it comes we will win. Just like we could have won veitnam if we wanted to.

That it is sir, that it is. While I may not always agree with our commanders, our soldiers are the finest the world has ever seen bar none.

Lol, you could've won Vietnam?! I suppose you could've won Iraq too? And you're so winning in Afghanistan.

If the US military didn't have all the toys it has now, America would be fucked. We'll see how disciplined the soldiers are when you cant cover their paycheck cos the deficit spending house of cards collapses.

And more "America Fuck Yeah" revisionist history...the reason you used the bombs on Japan is because a land war on Japanese soil would've had MASSIVE US casualties.

Theres a thin line between the American Spirit and Foolhardy Arrogance, do walk it carefully.

Again you speak with zero knowledge. The second bomb was dropped after the Japanese government surrendered, it was not to avoid a land war. And it sounds a bit like jealously, we have toys yes, put a US Marine toe to tie with any other soldier and see what happens.

Why would I be jealous? Just don't overestimate your military force, the world is changing.

So glad I'm part of a Union of 27 member states with a mutual defense policy.

And yet again more revisionist history, the Japanese surrendered 6 days after the second bomb...I'm the one with zero knowledge yeah?

Sorry my friend... History states on July 26 1945, Japan was told they faced "prompt and utter destruction" unless they surrendered.... They ignored all warnings and on August 6 1945 the bomb "Little boy" was dropped on Hiroshima, 3 days later "Fat man" was dropped on Nagasaki! Japan did not surrender until Aug 15! Sad thing is more then a quarter of a million innocent civilians had to pay the price for both a rouge Japanese government and an over zealous American government hell bent on annihilation!
