Glass shattered on air cooled hood

So i just went down to check on the ladies and they were all diced up from the glass on my hood...It shattered into a million pieces. I have no idea why this happened. My temps run 78 degrees with a 600hps. I just ran 2 cycles with a 1000w bulb right before i went to the 600. Anyone know why this may have happened.

I'm thinking maybe Grow Room Design and Setup or Indoor Growing.. leaning toward the Grow Room Design

Edit: Moved to Grow Room Design and Setup

Cheep glass. Had one do that to me. Called the glass guy and ordered clear tempered fire place glass. Works great.

Did the glass break like a car door.
Or big shards.?

If it was not tempered or heat treated it would break easily (an into big shards) under the lights heat.

Tempered is tough & high dollar, Id go with the cheeper 1/8 in pyrex sheet glass to replace it.
Pyrex will break easier than tempered, but can take just as much heat.

Yeah its cooled, thats the first thing I checked when it happened. Nothing has changed in the cab for a long time so it had to be defective glass. I have been running the same setup for over a year now and my temps are actually the lowest they have ever been. The only thing that I question is I have a humidifier running in there and I just refilled it 30 minutes before it broke.

It broke into a million pieces all over my plants, all mixed in with my hydroton and diced a bunch of leaves. But they snapped back after a few days

I have a piece of thick glass that came off one of those cheap walmart computer stands, its the right length for the slats that hold it up but its about 2" wider going across. Not sure how safe it is but its thick and heavy.

Was just asking,I wonder if it sucked up some moisture and got it on the glass?

I was thinking either your inline fan vibration
Or simply the glass was not secured properly
The frame is cheap and the weather strip they use to make the unit airtight could curly up before you close it tight, causing uneven pressure

this happened to a friend on two hoods that he bought from maverick, we figured it was the temper and heat cause stress and eventually a crack then shattered glass

temps on your room may be ok but those bulbs radiate a lot of heat, a 1k bulb is some god awful number in the thousands hot on the inside(at ceritan areas)

the constant on and off and high heats can make fualty glass crack and since it is tempered once it cracks it shatters and breakers its a safety measure to prevent large pains of glass cutting your artery's and in this case chopping your plants

email and call and photo the evidence and send it into the fixture company and ask for a explanation and a refund if they are at fualt also they might want the hoods for inspection if you do this, and you may not get hoods rigth back but my buddy did so idk, just assuming not every case is the same
