Well we have a large dog community here so thought I would share a great dog treat you can make at home and your dogs will love them. If you have any ideas post away


  1. Wash the sweet potatoes. Leave the peels on the sweet potatoes.
  2. Slice the sweet potatoes lengthwise into approximately ¼ inch thick slices.
  3. Place the sweet potato slices on the cookie sheet and bake in a 250 degree oven for two hours.
  4. Remove the sweet potato slices from the oven and turn them over on the cookie sheet. Bake the sweet potato slices for two more hours. (Total baking time: four hours.)
  5. Remove the dried sweet potatoes chews from the oven and allow them to cool.
  6. Give to a very deserving doggie. Repeat.

The dogs LOVE these oven treats!
I have started cutting 5/8" cubes and adding blueberries to dry aswell. 3+ hours just under 250F (until appropriately dried). great training and searching treats :)

NEVER WHITE POTATOES!!

I also dehydrate chicken breast and liver fillets (cut into bits) as treats to offset our foods slightly low protein content.
best treats ever! so simple too and great on a cool day.

-a cool treat for a HOT day is chicken broth ICECUBES :)

everything in moderation too :) dehydrated snacks can have a lot of sugar.

i just give my dog baby carrots and grapes... i'm sticking to carrots because he's small and i fear he'll choke to death on a grape.... he loves baby carrots....

wow never knew dogs cant eat grapes, my dog has eaten everything and is still here 18 years later lol.
She must of eaten at least 1o chocolate bunnies and tons of eggs and easter stuff. Me and my bro forgeting our stuff on the table...

The condition has not been reproduced experimentally. there is ZERO scientific evidence that grapes are bad for dogs...

nice try though...

i've fed my dog over 20-30 grapes in a day and he's never gotten sick....

Then it lucky. Why risk it tho? And I really like the chicken broth ice cubes idea. Gonna see if my dogs like em.

why live in fear?

it's not luck.

there's zero evidence that grapes cause renal failure in dogs. we know chocolate may be toxic to dogs, there's scientific evidence and documented cases. we know exactly what substance in chocolate is toxic to dogs and why it's toxic to dogs.

the grape thing is an urban myth.....deal with it....

i had a dog coming up that ate more chocolate than i did. i'm talking whole giant chocolate bars, half dozen+ chocolaty donuts, he ate shittons of food with onions in it (onions are supposed to be highly toxic to dogs) he ate EVERYTHING. even chewed open cat food cans. he did eat grapes but i don't think he liked the texture because he usually spit them out.

he lived to be 16. he was a lab/spaniel mix. never had any health problems.

i'm not saying that these things are myths, i'm saying they are not gospel. i bet people do more damage to their dog's health by giving them salty fatty hormoney table scraps than they do by giving them grapes or chocolate.

Easy chief. I was just lookin out for your pooch. I dont give a damn what you feed him.

I almost lost my dog because of chocolate. She got into the candy dish while I was gone and went into seizures for a week. We force fed her Gatorade and sockeye salmon/scrambled eggs. She came as close to death as a dog can get without dying.

we just got a lab puppy in late august after having to put our old 14 year old dog down a few months prior..
my roomy gets up and goes to work around 6am or so, and i've been out of a job, so i get up around 8 or so to watch the pup and take care of her and all..
one day, i came down stairs and she had found this bag of m n m's that we had forgotten about cuz i'm no big fan of them.. there was more than half of a one pound bag left, and she ate the whole thing..
i've never seen a more cracked out dog in my life.. couldn't sit still for more than a minute or two without running around some more and crying.. to say i freaked would be a huge understatement..
this lady my sister works with had the same happen to her dog around the same time.. she called a vet, and they told her to feed the dog salt i think it was.. she kept giving the dog salt, and then the dog ended up dying not from the chocolate, but rather than the salt she was giving it as a cure.. man, that would have sucked hard.. think you're doing the right thing and end up killing the animal..
i'm just glad my vet told me to simply watch her and if she got any worse to bring her to their office..

My dogs eat everything. any fruit and veg's. even onions raw, oldest is 9 and youngest is 6. all healthy for the most part. full size dogs to.

my pup was running out to my garden and pulling my tomato's and peppers and shit right off of the plants and eating them just like that..

i'm going to have to do a good job doggy proofing the garden this year or she's going to eat my whole crop..
