I know your reply was not directed to me, but if I may debunk, or enlighten...So 3000k is junk & you would be bettter off with flora suns & 6500k to flower with right?
yes. Yes. YES!The best bulb to get 660nm from in my opinion is the ZooMed FloraSun (only $
So Im a little new to the colored bulb thng. Im currently running a 4 bulb 2700k/6500k flower/veg cab. I just harvested around an ounce and a half from 2X white widowXbig bud. Would the above mentioned ZooMed FloraSun be a good choice to mix my 2700/6500k bulbs in flower?
It would have taken me 4 pages to say the same thing... Well put!!!I know your reply was not directed to me, but if I may debunk, or enlighten...
Junk? Basic horticulture bulbs are let's say driving a regular Ford Fusion- pretty decent- WHEREAS, aquarium bulbs offer GT 40 performance, but there is learning curve to figure out which bulbs to use, and when. The cool part is you get to play Sun God.
Yes maybe junk was a little harsh & I did get good results with the traditional bloom/veg bulbs. But of course I would like better/more. Im vegging 2XAfghan kush at the moment & with the info from you guys will experiment with my flower panel. Im just having some seperation anxiety with the 3000k's. Im thinking about 1X6500k,1X3000k,1Xflora sun & 1X420nm actinic. Seems like it would complete the entire usable & unusable spectrum. I know the graphs dont lie but I did get dank sticky buds from 3X 3000k & 1X 6500k!I know your reply was not directed to me, but if I may debunk, or enlighten...

Those of us dabbling with aquarium bulbs are like race car drivers, seeking the edge. There is big learning curve to figure out which bulbs to use, and when, but thanks to Undercover Cop, you have 95% of it in a single reply. The cool part is playing Sun God. Oh, and it's very educational.
I feel you. I had jut made the leap to T%s. I had recently purchased a Quantum BB- 8 bulb, + 8 each Quantum Grow/Flower bulbs AND had very encouraging results. Alas, all were males, but the growth was excellent. Then, I came across the reason behind this thread- Pr0fesseur's LED Without LEDs My First T5 Grow thread. Talk about addictive! And well, I had already tried LEDs and had a fair understanding of which nms are best for grow, and which for flower, so it was a natural progression (for me!) to explore it. Hell I have been dabbling with HPA for 2+ years (you have to be WAY out there to play here), and only now feel as though I got it goin on. So, the combination should be awesome. Thinkin bout doin a journal as soon as we get 660sYes maybe junk was a little harsh & I did get good results with the traditional bloom/veg bulbs. But of course I would like better/more. BendMC? That's the one that saved me from buying a bigger LED panel, and the rest is history, though I hope to be experimenting with the new gen LED stuff soon. Looks like you can grow more weed than you can smoke under 60 watts now. That's AWESOMEThanks UCC for the great info and analogies as always...............
Yeah I know about the difference in tech and phosphor blends/diode specific wavelengths etc.....but a refresher is always nice
But when it comes to T5 and aquarium bulbs(growers have been doing this for years) you guys are at the forefront right now IMO....And i'm lost in this area TBH...
Yeah I got the led bug(still do) and ordered a panel...........but soon returned it due to subpar quality(duiodes/fans)....long story
I was just amused at the fact that it "seems" we are coming full circle again and returning(some) to all white panels aka (full spec)...even induction had those crappy blue red(bispectrum) bulbs that have now been replaced by full spec(4500-5500k) bulbs..indagrow now has this "six phosphor blended) bulb with more red concentration (420series)
I don't know shit about flouros but when I used T8 it was under the traditional bulbs and they worked great(as u said/ can grow under anything)
Best T5 grow that I ever seen at RIU was the "badboy grow" about 1&1/2 years ago(can't remember the thread) all large badboy panels with nothing but the quantum grow/bloom bulbs and it raised much attention towards these panels....also had great genetics and grow conditions.
I'm just looking for a small change in my panel setup to increase my par through just the veg stage.......appreciate your previous recommendations, but i want ONE manufacturer(bulb) to add to my panel that would have the greatest affect and be simple to replace and find......
thanks.....happy growing
The simplest answer, for Veg, add 1/4 blue actinic tubes to your spectrum and you'll see much tighter node distances. WavePoint makes the cheapest Ive seen anywhere at $8. Blue/Reef waves. Swap them out and put in a CoralWave if you use T5s in flower and you'll see less stretch and a quicker switch to flowering. WavePoint has nothing to offer Red wise tho (other than the Coral Wave's deep red/IR at 760nm which is VERY rare). For veg, add Blue/Reef waves to your 6500k's, I did that last time thru and they gave me theeeese! ---->I'm just looking for a small change in my panel setup to increase my par through just the veg stage.......appreciate your previous recommendations, but i want ONE manufacturer(bulb) to add to my panel that would have the greatest affect and be simple to replace and find......thanks.....happy growing
I didn't know that so thank you the place is atomic mall at 21.95/WA they say they have 11 in stock but I'll have to call tomorrow to check for sure if so that's good cause I need 5 or 6 for my flower panel I'm gettingRed Suns are rated V/HO meaning they can be run at the higher wattage (80w I think) but they can be driven in normal HO fixtures, and supposedly they will last longer in a 54w ballast since they're not being driven so hard. Its harder to find VHO ballasts (icecap?) but the bulbs can be used in HO fixture. Where did you find em? I'd call and have them actually go in the back and look, hold them in their hand before they tell you they're in stock... Ive ordered from 3 places that say they're in stock, then cancelled when I get the backorder email
Ya I haven't orderd yet I want to call a few places and see when the shipment is suposta be in and I'm gonna order threw the closest shipmenthmmm, I think I had ordered at atomic mall (they're a clearing house or online mall for numerous small stores to host their online stores) ReefCorals.com LiveCoralFrag.com or just the generic storefront thru atomic mall is all the same store selling them. They tried to tell me that its not a popular bulb and since no one else has them I should just wait for their shipment to come in :-/
"...3total, wholesalers who carry UV lighting. The other 2 do not even stock this Red Sun bulb....so it is not that popular. You can cancel the order or wait, but seeing as the others, which are much large wholesalers than the one I ordered them through do not stock these, I'd leave them on backorder and wait for them to arrive. They are hard to find. I wish I had more control over these situations...."
Anyway, exactly why I said to call first earlier, cuz I ordere 4 from them then got this email saying that they arent in stock (when online said they were).
