Ethics committees are like the fig leaf over the corporate body, ethics work great when things are great, but hold their feet to the fire and things rapidly change.

I know someone personally who owns a few nursing homes. They are telling me because of federal and new state regulations without a increase in rate, they may be looking for a new way to make a living. He sincerely believes that the state is trying to do away with those state funded level2 care homes. In the past 4 years over 40% of these nursing homes in the state have called it quits.. And the number is rising.. And this is a state funded business mind you. Increase in operation cost with no state rate adjustment? Strangulation

There is nothing ethical about forcing people to associate in a nonconsensual manner. It is ethical to leave others alone or to defend oneself from unwanted intrusions. Government's nature is to intrude, therefore "regulations" that restrict freedom and use a one size fits all approach parternered with an "or else" threat are part of the problem, not the solution to a free society.

Well put. Moderation, reasonable, ethical rules that are not oppressive, but rather free us of oppression are what is necessary. Beyond that thousands of regulations which restrict and oppress bussiness and people trying to make a living while government and its officials profit from the demise of others is just plain evil.
