i got back way more than $200, try closer to a couple thousand overall.

and as we've discussed before, i don't really notice the type of inflation you're talking about in my food bill, it's pretty marginal.
You got a couple thousand MORE back than you would normally have gotten? Saying you got several thousand overall means nothing. I once got $12,000 back in taxes under Bush 1, must mean Bush 1 was a better president. Either that or I paid too much taxes.

Inflation affects more than just a loaf of the cheapest bread you can find.

BTW how does someone with no job and no legal income get several thousand back?

The average person making less than $30k a year gets about $210 extra under the wonderful tax rules.

If you make $50k a year and the "Official" inflation figure is 3%, how much money is that?

i worked a normal gig in 2009, and did plenty of seasonal work in late 2009, all of 2010, and took on a real job for a while in 2011.

and how do you get this $210 nonsense? are you talking about the lowering of the payroll tax? because that 2.6% cut would save someone making $30k about $800 a year.

LOL WUT?

So you are combining 3 years of tax returns and claiming them for 1 year in order to make us all think you got some huge tax return? LOL indeed.

You took a real job for all of 3 weeks last year, did you make $80,000 in those few weeks to justify a several thousand dollar extra in return over what would have been a normal return?

If you got more money back than you paid in you did not receive a tax return, what you got was a wealth redistribution. You can't get more back than you put in and call it a refund.

boy, you are making some wild assumptions here, many of them false.

i worked until july of 2009 at one of those fancy desk jobs, made about $18k in that half a year, and took UI the rest.

2009: making work pay tax credit ($400) + first $2400 of UI exempt ($240) = $640 in tax breaks. used it to rewire the electric in the garage and buy more lights, lumber, fans, etc. great investment on "found" money.

i worked seasonal jobs for my father in law in 2010 and took Ui the rest of the time.

2010: making work pay tax credit ($400) + first $2400 of UI exempt ($240) + expanded EITC ($unsure, have to look) = $640+ in tax breaks. used it to build a greenhouse and buy even more lights, lumber, and fans for the garage. another great investment with "found" money.

i worked 4 months of the year in 2011, forgoing UI to do so, quit that job, collected nothing. doesn't matter because the tax breaks in the ARRA expired. might have saved a little money on the payroll tax cut, about 2.6% of $8k.

2011: payroll tax cut (~$200).

so altogether, over the last three years, obama's tax cuts have saved me AT LEAST $1500, possibly more.

If you got more money back than you paid in you did not receive a tax return, what you got was a wealth redistribution. You can't get more back than you put in and call it a refund.
i got back everything i put in last year, that part was a refund.

i also took advantage of the EITC, netting me about $300 or so, which is almost exactly how much it cost me to put the new and improved greenhouse up. thanks for that, fellow taxpayers. your wealth redistribution is not in vain, i invest that small amount of money wisely along with a lot of hard work to keep myself off the dole. that $300 investment prevents $300 a month in food stamps and other social welfare dollars that i fully qualify for.

the plastic is not on yet and won't be until we have a few sunny days in a row, but it is included in that $300 price tag, along with fans and extension cords yet to be purchased. also need a couple more 2x4s and some rebar, it's not stable enough for my liking in the center and i will be taking no chances this year.

They take your wife's earnings into consideration, or does your wife only make about $9k a year? You don't qualify for food stamps unless you were single and living alone in that house.

How many more years of UI do you think you can get?

Gusset those rafters with some plywood.

not true. i qualify for food stamps because my wife is a student. and yes, her investment income that she lives off of is rather low, about $1400-$1800 a month. even though she has over a million in assets, they are not mainly liquid. she makes her money through her parents' and grandparents' investments gifted to her, which the family still maintains (apartments, stock, etc).

i also do married filing separate on all returns, and i have to skip the standard deduction in my state so that she may take itemize deductions. that little details cost me $150 this year, so i had to send a money order instead of receiving a check form the state. that is on top of the $300+ dollars i had already paid in taxes to the state on my meager as fuck income.

How many more years of UI do you think you can get?
0.00 years to be exact. i had about 5 months left when i took that job last year which paid about the same. i was ready to return to work. i did enjoy the work, but hated my boss, so i quit and focused on the greenhouse and my indoor. i got through fine, although i had 2 tight months where i was cashing in cans for deposits to feed myself. this year is much better.

Gusset those rafters with some plywood.
my dad said the same damn thing!

will add some nice plywood to the list tomorrow. whatever doesn't get used for gussets will be rip cut into 3/4 inch lengths and brad-nailed in over the plastic, in addition to staples and all-weather tape. i'm not going to chase that plastic around after every storm this year.

Thank you UB for this last post. You just confirmed what type of person you are too me. " I enjoyed the work, but hated my boss, so I quit". Cry me a river, do you know how many hard working people dislike their boss, but still get up and deal with it on a daily basis? And you have the nerve to get on this site and put hard working people down all the time while living of your wifes family and the goverment. I guess your King Obama would be proud of ya!!

i think you missed the part where i chose to forgo UI to take a job that paid about as much as UI did.

that and the TPB avatar and the zamboni handle kinda lead me to believe that you were one of those braindead hicks only capable of rioting over hockey games and lamenting the frostbite on your cock after a 4 hour snow fucking romp.
