Love the slide - just the colors I was looking for. I like the shape and design of the first clear/aurora dome more than this one though - although I like the colors of this dome a bit more.

I'd be happy with this slide and the previous dome if you don't feel like making more for me to pick from. Can you add a tiny bit of frit after the fact? Maybe dab some on the top of both of them so they blend with the rest of my gear?
I have a *little* frit. I do have some Slyme frit, but I'm not sure how that would look on the piece. I didnt plan on you actually taking these two, figured more prototypes. :) I'll get back on it!

Ah, well as prototypes they look great. I really like the concept of a slide like that. Eagerly waiting to see more :)

Again, I know nothing about making pipes, but out of curiosity, why can't you just place some scrap glass in a baggie and hit it with a hammer to make frit? Is it more processed than that?

I'm also excited to see more Aurora slides & domes! An aurora slide about as tall as the one you just made and with ice pinches would look sick!

It's even a secret to me really. I asked RK not to show me until it was sent in the mail. All I know is its going to have Slyme in it, and be a "hammer" style bowl. I guess that's what you'd call it, hold on and I'll find a picture.

* This was the picture I sent for the style I wanted.

Sounds dope! Slyme is definitely my favorite color, it's impossible to go wrong with it!
Everything's better as a surprise, at least in the glass world anyway lol
I hope to get some RK in my collection as soon as possible!

Looks like I should mail you some vac stack tubing. :) First, nice balls! For drawing on lines and not using prefab'd tubing, the lines are where they should be for the most part. You'll find that working vac stack tubing vs doing the balls you have now are *totally* different, because of the difference in thickness and color saturation. The mostly clear ones are a little weird to work and not even to begin with because the lines were drawn on in areas rather than encased with the same thickness throughout.

You'll notice the first pic, you can see the color through the ball. That is bad. That means the color lines were pulled too thin or it isnt saturated enough. A color rball should not be translucent at all, if it is, its too thin. (Then again, this is more for vac stacks, and you have clear practice line balls, but ya know).......

So, what to make with them?

--> You could make a spoon and have the terminations on either side of the spoon body

--> You could make a dish with the work in the middle, but that rball is probably about 3x larger than you'd want to make a dish out of (TINY balls for dishes!). But rather than the work being centered in the center of the dish, the ball could BE the dish and have the lines work their way all around.

--> You could connect the balls together, and make a 4-ball sherlock or something. Or a mini oil rig even (!!). Practicing connecting rballs together is something that I need to do, too. Its not that its hard, but cant mess up the lines!

#1 rule when making rballs is to use the marver as LITTLE as possible. Marvers mash things which makes lines crooked.

Cant wait to see what ya made!
The stuff im playing with to practice my wig waging came out of the trash pile. LOL. Its total junk, thats why I am just playing with it. Im not gonna waste the good vac stacked stuff we got on my first try you know? We got this junk laying around so I just play with it. Just like on the lathe, when im practicing I use the crap glass we have, but when I am working on making actual production I only use the highest quality of course. This wag ball in the picture had tiny cracks in a couple of the colors the next morning out of the kiln. So I wont be making anything with it. I did a bunch of different ones after this one, with some different pre-fab junk line tubing but they came out a lot better than this. I have the luxury of attaching the balls on a lathe.... so if I really want to make something nice I can, but Im practicing bench skills right now so I will prob attach a couple balls together and do a bubbler or something. I am patiently waiting for the vac stack videos as well, we get ours custom made, but would make more sense to do it in house.

Scrap glass in a baggie to make frit? Nah, no baggie needed. Look on eBay for a frit maker, they are just a metal ram and a holder with some size sorting trays. Making your own frit is ***extremely*** dangerous. I should have put more ***'s next to extremely. Even when I "snap" a color rod with a scoring tool, you can see glass dust fly away in a little cloud. If you inhale glass, it is in your lungs permanently you are dead. Crushing up a lot of scrap glass into frit would create a lot of dust, and it would also be extremely *dirty* too. You would see a lot of inclusions and contaminants if you used it.

All of my scrap glass goes into a bucket and then to the dumpster.

Here's a new dome style, same colors, except spider-webbed at the top. Should make milking a dab fun. :-) Also another dish and a few exp.green#5 dabbers.

Good idea!

I'm excited for my dry pipe to be made!!!! Can't wait to finally have an "On-the-Go" piece.
I love Trautman Art Glass and I hate them at the same time. I ordered my slyme stuff out of the newsletter nearly 4 weeks ago, took em a week to reply, a week to get it boxed and card charged, and now its not moving in transit from west coast....... Arrrrrrrrgh!! We'll get there......................... :)

I <3 slyme, but have no slyme glass.. Whats up with dat :(
You bought 5 things from me and always wanted rasta. Thats your fault man! :) At least you got a recent package with some new glass!

Word! Vac stack on a lathe will be a little different, but still workable.

Thanks everyone!

How much do you ask for your dabbers? I really like that color Exp. Green, I had a chance to get a bubbler in Exp. Green for cheap awhile ago but I passed it up :(
Also how much do you ask for dishes?

Only $10? I may buy an Exp. Green one from you then, or could you make a Slyme dabber when the Slyme glass comes in? I'm not in a hurry so if it doesn't come in for a while that's fine with me!
Wait... no! What about about an Exp. Green and Slyme dabber? If you still have both colors then I will certainly pay you for one. If not, no harm no foul :)
My imagination is too crazy for my own good haha

When my Slyme comes in, we can do Slyme over Exp Green #5. :) The two dabbers you see in the pics, by the way, are Exp Green #5 over clear over white over clear. You really have to thin out the color to see the green!
