Hortilux worth it?

There is a nice thread showing pics of a grow using both lights. And the difference is mistakenly huge.
But like in anything today. U get what u pay for...

I had that ballast, and thank god I sold it to a friend.Story short, the parts in side the light run really hot!, which killed the caps in the ballast. The ballast was just a little over a year old.

sorry to hear that bro. i've been running lumateks for years and never had a problem with a single one. i still have 3 that are over 5 years old and run great. like any piece of equipment in the hydro industry there are always going to be bad experiences. i'll never buy anything but lumateks for now.

just my $0.02 but you pay for what you get in hydro gear. i've never heard anything good about those cheap amazon and ebay deals with cheap bulbs and ballasts. things break all the time or show up and don't work. invet the money for a quality setup. it will last 5 times as long if not more.

I just can't afford $300 right now, sadly. I think I will go for the cool tube reflector you guys found :)! Even if it doesn't work that well, it beats 10 23watt cfls?
