earned my BS 34 years ago kidAt least I know the difference between a halide and sodium vapor, which you clearly do not. Salts in HPS -- wtf??
It seems like you need to recheck your homework if you want to graduate ok.
here lemme show you your iq...I guess you simply killed too many brain cells since then, and forgot what you're talking about.
The ballast is good, but the reflector is crap. It will work, but an air cooled hood will serve you better at a price.soooo...to hijack my thread back, are the ballast and the reflector i linked earlier decent?
i don't like those all in one units because ballasts put off a good amount of heat themselves, and with the all in one, you can't put the ballast outside your tent or cab which makes it hotter.
get this package (http://www.greners.com/i/packages/grow-light/400-watts/high-performance-grower-400w-grow-light-package.html) and then get this MH bulb if you can (http://www.greners.com/i/grow-lights/hid-bulbs/type/metal-halide/hortilux-metal-halide-bulb-400w-horizontal-high-output.html).
I looked at that thread too, but to me it was not mistakenly huge at all?tjmThere is a nice thread showing pics of a grow using both lights. And the difference is mistakenly huge.
But like in anything today. U get what u pay for...
I had that ballast, and thank god I sold it to a friend.Story short, the parts in side the light run really hot!, which killed the caps in the ballast. The ballast was just a little over a year old.get this package (http://www.greners.com/i/packages/grow-light/400-watts/high-performance-grower-400w-grow-light-package.html) and then get this MH bulb if you can (http://www.greners.com/i/grow-lights/hid-bulbs/type/metal-halide/hortilux-metal-halide-bulb-400w-horizontal-high-output.html).
sorry to hear that bro. i've been running lumateks for years and never had a problem with a single one. i still have 3 that are over 5 years old and run great. like any piece of equipment in the hydro industry there are always going to be bad experiences. i'll never buy anything but lumateks for now.I had that ballast, and thank god I sold it to a friend.Story short, the parts in side the light run really hot!, which killed the caps in the ballast. The ballast was just a little over a year old.

This one has my vote, for more bang for the buck.
I just can't afford a nice ballast/reflector, sadly...these are my best options, any idea which one seems to "shine" more ;D?
