You will notice difference first day with MH.
I can't wait to get them under the MH...I have to run this exhaust fan and ducting through it. I am hoping to have it up by tomorrow night and on my timer. I can't decide if I should go 20/4 or 18/6

you mean they grow faster? They obviously grow in light also...my plants have been on 24/0 since the beginning.

I think it's the same difference as hydro vs. soil. The soil plants will yield the same amount over a given flower period, but they will need a longer veg to achieve it. In the end, the yield is determined by the light coverage for the given canopy.

Okay so I am doing some reading about yellow tips on plants and I keep coming to a potassium deficiency. Now one of the things I noticed is a cold environment can cause this along with redish / puple stems which a few of my plants have. I know at night the indoor temp of my tent is around 71 degrees.

several of my plants have stems the color of red grapes at the bottom that fades to green at the top. I haven't paid it much attention.

Should be cool, wouldn't worry yet.

Bailed out on you last night, Had a lot a work to do,bagged up my clones.

You guys don't like perlite ? Why ?:?

I can grow a 5 foot plant :hump:in 5.5in net pot, in straight perlite. Growing hydro the media is primarily to give the plant support.

I've never grown soil:-?, so I always think hydro.

Coco pretty cool you can work it like soil or hydro:hump:

Have you looked at my journal Mared ? So good ideas in there.

Tetra,
Dude, that sweet god looks like the shiz. I'm all about the flavor of my smoke. It's almost as important as the high. Might try it if my White Lady doesn't turn out to be that great. You ever heard of this strain? Here's the description from the Doctor's site:

White lady is a compact plant with an abundance of crystals. Few leaves makes this plant easy to manicure. With a fresh taste and an extremely high level of thc this strain is popular among growers and blowers
Flowering time 55-60 days
Inside cultivation
Sativa/Indica mix
Yield: app.400 grams per square meter

I'm also thinking of ways to better utilize my space. I have a 6' x 6'x 8' closet that I think I may be able to partition off to setup clone and mother sections. There are shelves on one side that I could extend out to about 2' depth and then lean pieces of drywall cut to the exact size against them to seal in the light. I could have the clones on the shelf with the mother(s) sitting on the floor below them. Since I plan on keeping them under 4', I figure if I allow 2.5 sq ft of floor space for each plant in flower, I can fit five plants in flower and still have room for the shelf setup and maneuvering the drywall. This means I would only be able to access the clone/mothers when the lights for the flowering plants are on but I think I could plan ahead sufficiently. I know this is at least a couple weeks away but can anyone find a reason why I shouldn't do this. Will it get way too hot in the clone/mother sections even if I only use cfls? I could even fit a fan behind the drywall for each level. Will I blow the breakers in my apartment? Below are pics of the room - I will remove the car exhaust pieces before construction obviously.

I know a lot of people will say, "make sure you can actually grow the plants before you go to all that trouble," but given the amount of money I spend on smoke each week plus the cost of my setup, I will continue to try until I get it right.

I use an over, under works pretty good. You got the right idea.

My veg area is behind my flower area so when I want to work in there I kill the veg lights, cover the window, so its BLACK, turn on some green lights , play THE WALL and go to work.

Okay my plants are officially under a 400w MH. I bought another fan which I attached to the one of the vent holes at the bottom of the tent (blowing in). I now have my inline fan blowing out of the top of my tent. I attached ducting to both sides of my new HydroFarm hoodand attached an exhaust fan to blow the hot air out.

I have the exhaust fan and my light on a timer (18/6)

Attached are some pics...although I am noticing my camera is behaving odd with the light.
