First time grower using coco

Bk, that setup is official now. Hard to believe your plants are only ten days ahead of mine - they look great. What nute levels have you stepped up to? Are you at full strength?

My little sprouts are still coming along, too. The only negative thing to happen so far is I found a gnat type bug crawling around on my starter plugs. I dispatched it immediately and put a picture in the thumbnails below. Hoping it was just a freak bug that came in through the front door - I did see the first flies of spring outside the other day while scooping my dogs' poop:neutral:. Besides that, the only development is I folded down the sides of the bags because they were flapping all around. Next time I am going to use some sort of screen or gravel at the bottom of my pots/bags because I'm steadily losing coco out of the drain holes right now. Rookie mistake I'm sure.

Slowpoke continues to live up to her name. Has anyone got a lame seed like this before? Seems healthy, just very slow. I guess that's all for now. Peace.

I am using 1.5 tsp per gallon of this Botanicare PBP...it is pretty gentle. I think I will wait until those third set of leaves pop out a little more beofre I begin to mix my FoxFarm GrowBig.

Your setup looks good though. Your plants look healthy.

I got up early to check my plants because there had been some leaf curling and little rust colored spots. I should of stayed asleep because they look like crap. I studied the GrowFAQ and it looks like either a Mg deficiency or ph fluctuation or combination. Their water has always been 5.8 so even though I don't have a soil ph meter, I don't think that's it. I also moved my light up several inches. As far as the Mg, the GrowFAQ says give it 1/2 tblspn epsom salt/gal, but does that apply to coco? I'm thinking about just flushing the piss out of them, but I can't imagine that it's an overferting problem because I have only been giving .5 mL/L each of the A&B so far. Any help would be awesome, even if it's just to say, "quit worrying so much, newb." Just remember when you look at the pictures, the plants are actually green in color, the camera makes them yellow. It's only the spots that become rusty that get yellow first.

Okay, so I am about to go to class. All I did was turn the light off so the plants would have their first period of darkness ever - remember my light timer doesn't work. I took the opportunity to give them their first foliar feeding. I hope this is a good temporary solution to get the nutes to the plants that they might not be getting through the roots. I'm going to come home briefly at 10 to turn the lights back on and check the progress. I'll wait to hear anyone's advice before flushing them completely. I just watered last night - leaf curling and spots had started before that. Peace.
 
Mared - yeah I am not sure.....I have that same problem with a plant or two. I will continue searching my grower's bible for an answer.
 
Yeah, watch out, dude. It started off with a couple leaves curling early yesterday. Then, I saw the first rust spot on the most curled plant which is why I think the problems are related. Today, 5 out of 9 plants have at least one spot. Now the spots are getting shiny and waxy, too. I'm getting increasingly worried. Commence flushing.:neutral:

How much should I bump up? I don't have a ppm meter which I'm sure is part of my problem. If I was doing .5 mL/L before, should I double that? You're obviously more knowledgable than me, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't overwater. I transplanted these guys on the 14th and have only watered three times in the week since. The first time was maybe too soon but since then I let the coco get real dry, almost powdery, before I would water again. Plus, the leaves are curling every which way but down. No droopiness at all. I'm trying to be scientific about my plant care - I only flushed three plants to see if they would improve as opposed to the others. No such luck. All continue to worsen:cry: Could it be that I just haven't been giving them enough nutes? But then again I've seen some pictures that were labeled nute burn that look like what I've got. It's hard to get decent pictures with my phone but here are some more for your consideration.

My input is nute burn, but I don't work in coco. When I worked in soil I wouldn't give any nutes to the plants for their first 3-4 weeks. Depending on how well your coco drains I would flush it, and maybe do a clearex bath to leach out those burning nutes.

Just my 2 pennies though, like I said I'm a DWC guy myself, but It looks like burn to me..

I've also made a thread for this situation in the Plant Problems section and it seems most people think it's burn but wouldn't the plants I flushed look better if that was the case? I'm at a loss. Thanks for the input, though, Overgrown.

Its not nute burn you haven't overdone it.

Coco is almost inert when you get it.

I don't have a soil ph meter but feed water is always 5.8. As far as the runoff, Iv'e been stupid and not even testing. Will definitely do next watering. So you agree to step up nutes to 1 mL/L?
