^^^^ That's funny.

Actually most are, but newer designs are quite good these days. The biggest issue being the upfront expense, but that pays off over time

no way in hell LED can compete with HID as far as watt to watt goes. they cost more to buy and cost less to run..but for ur best overall tight dence nug...HID 100%!!!

I started this year with led lighting and it worked well until my 2 plants got up to around 12" high and just as big around. I was going with 240 watt led and my plants out grew the light fast so i guess if i would have had enough watts in the led mine would have been fine but i did not mine are growing better now with just 110 watts in a t-5 light in a grow tent.

LED hatters come check my thread. I will post the plant cam stop motion at the end of the grow. I did drop some serious coin to get my unit $2000. But i save 300 watts of electricity cost thats about $12 a month in savings, not counting heat, plus no $129 bulb change every six months. And I usually can't run during the summer and am still running 2 LEDs plus one 1000 HPS despite record heat this year. So that is huge. Will a 300 watt led hang with a 1000 HPS, hell no. Will a 710 watt LED hang with a 1000, HELL YA! and I can keep my flower room running during the summer.

do you think 2 X 200w bridgelux 3w leds blue, red n orange spectrum would be better than a 400w hps? :-/

I have never used them so all I can speak about is what I have seen. I personally think LEDs are over-priced under performers. I am of the train of thought that says if it aint broke dont fix it. Until they come out with something comparable in price, performance and results as an HPS in a single package I dont see any reason to change. Do I think those lights would out perform a 400? No.

Yep they have their limits i have learned this fast there is a reason i have changed my lighting and i am not going to use led any longer. All it did was make me spend more money on lighting.
