got a question about a 4' F54 T5 HO,what is the light penetration of a T5, I know cfl's the maximum height of light penetration is 22'', or is there no height limit with a T5 because you keep it very close to the top of plants and adjust the height as they grow. I'm using mine to start seeds and seedlings using two 4100k cool white tubes, so I thought as a little experiment I would veg with two 65k tubes, for a little while then try full spectrum with one 65k and one 3000k, and see if there is a difference, I was then going to use two 3000k and see, I read that if you use one 3000k and 4100k when flowering you get short tight nodes,was going to try it and see what happens, I got a lot of bag seed, I started with a pc grow box, It worked ok for the first couple try's, then I built a 2' x 2' x 2' grow box with 10 26 watt cfl's, it works great during the winter in the small room I'm growing in, but during the warmer months it's a little to hot, so I thought I would give T5's a try cause I can use fans to move air better then the 4 pc fans on high in 2' box.not ready to vent and filter yet cause I'm thinking of my going mh/hps and then will have to vent and filter, but not going to happen for a while
 
i keep mine about 3 inches from the plant tops..if one or two plants get shorter than the rest i put them on something to keep em close to the lite.at 6 inches everything grows slower...i'm brand new to t5's tho
 
I am thinking of growing with T5s for the 1st time. I am thinking of trying a 12/12 grow again for the 1st time. I have a small grow tent 32x32x60. I was curious if I could grow 2 decent plants with a 2ft x 4bulb T5? any help would be great.

Go with an 8 bulb in the tent that size and you could do two good sized plants in a scrog
 
I made this DSC00001.jpgDSC00002.jpgDSC00003.jpgDSC00008.jpg It's two four foot F54 T5 HO's and 1 1/4" pvc stand I got 2 feet of height, To make it higher I use longer legs and longer chain, its not glued so it's changeable
 
I thought I would use T5's to start seedling and cuttings and do a little vegging, until I finish my green house finished, It's been a pain in my ass but I will finish it sometime soon I hope, if not I might have too step up to a convertible MH/HPS but not sure how big to go because I want to make one purchase, so there is a commitment issue, not sure a 250w or 400w or 600w nothing bigger, because I want to make a veg area, flower area, and a clone area, got the room but not sure which way to go

I advise 400 watt switchable mag coil ballast ...that way you can run hps, mh, or CMH and see which works best for you

I've tried this. It doesn't seem to create any kind of "magic" in my grow room. When the actinics are taken out, you will see a huge difference in growth speed. Put the actinics back in and everything slows down again. It doesn't make much sense, but that's what happened when I tried it. Right now I'm having the best luck with UVLs 660/630 lamps and the TrueLumen 460 Actinic combination. I really think a red/blue 3/2 mix of these lamps would really make shit grow fast and furiously.
 
i just got a 2x4 tent with an 4ft 12 lamp t5. i wanted to know the what are the best bulbs for veg. - name and brand. and what are the best bulbs for flowering - name and brand.

How wide is that 4ft 12bulb? My sunblaze 4ft 8 bulb takes uo my whole 4x2 tent I couldnt imagine throwing a sunblaze 44 in it too. Im running spectralux 2700k bulbs for bloom but about to do a 50/50 with them and argomax 3000ks. I veg under spectralux 6500k
 
Just heard back from UVL regarding 660 bulb life:

We are seeing useful life at 4500hrs before 25% decline in phosphor drop. At 10 hrs daily = 450 days, recommend replacing yearly.

Those look great! Im 3 weeks in on my first round of blooming with t5 and impressed so far. Brindle boxer pup?
