Oh shit man!! That is a serious configuration!! Hoot hoot!!

And the shelving setup looks solid. Can't wait man! Your grow is gonna be off the wall!(pun intended, not well formulated).

Now I can see what you were thinking...

I'm thinking the wood frame shouldn't be tooo hard to build and we can just drill holes and put metal dowels in to support the shelves... really shouldn't be TOO hard.

Probably around 6-7' of vertical space. Planning on 3 shelves starting at floor level about 1' apart and offset about 6" horizontally. So the shelves should be just over 3' with the plant on the top shelves being the tallest. This is what I currently have envisioned for the shelves.. should be about 6' long and about 3.5' deep and about 3.5' tall.

The shelves will be adjustable to either sit flat for watering or raised up to angle as pictured for normal light cycles.

So then your stands will be about 3 feet high, total, and 18-24 inches deep with about 3-4" more vertically to grow? (So by the end you'll be providing light 2 feet deep & up to 7 feet vertically in a 360 pattern?) Will you be offsetting the plants on each level so that no plants in front will be blocking light? Sorry for all the questions. This build has me intrigued and I'm just trying to visualize/troubleshoot the design in my head.

I was a custom woodworker (NOT carpenter!) for 12 years. if you need to bounce any build ideas off someones head, let me know.

LOL I guess my weed is pretty good. My daughter who has been staying with me twisted her ankle pretty severely yesterday (all swollen up, couldn't walk on it without limping greatly and wincing in pain). I've never smoked with her, although before when she was not living with me she used to be a daily heavy smoker for a while (she's only 20 so obviously not that long). Anyway, she has not had any in a while so no tolerance... I felt bad for her pain as advil wasn't taking care of it so offered her to toke the medicine man with me. It was so potent she asked me if it was laced with something (she doesn't know I grew it). She only took 2 hits. I think she was mainly smoking brickweed with seeds before as that's what her mom usually got / she hooked up for her mom ;) But yeah, basically after she smoked the medicine man she was walking without noticable pain/limp the rest of the night.... she zipped up the stairs after.... said she ended up organizing her room and i had a hard time getting her to rest off her ankle!! Talk about some pain medicine! I'm pretty sure it did at least as well as vicodin could have if not better.

So the plants.. CQ6 is definitely sick looks like LED syndrome or just light sensitivity... it's on my desk next to me now under a window in the house not in direct sunlight except a few hours later. I mixed up 1 liter of water with 1/2 teaspoon each of EJ Microblast and General Organics CaMg+. 5 mL is the recommended mild dose so I gave 1/10th the mild dose of each. I didn't want to overwhelm them since they're seedlings. I gave light waterings to all the plants as many were showing very mild symptoms as well - CQ6 got a drenching and a foliar.

It looks like my pH meter needed adjusting -- I calibrated it this morning and it was at 7.4 instead of 7 and 3.9 instead of 4... after I recalibrated it the water that I usually test as being around 6.8 was 7-7.1 pH, so that could be a factor. Just the mild doses of micronutes took the pH down to 5.3 -- I used EJ natural up to take it to 6.3. I didn't quite finish out the liter. New leaves on CQ6 look fine so far so hopefully she ends up fine.

I tested my rainwater a couple of weeks ago and it was 5.5 and 5.7 in the two clean containers I had sitting out. I have started using lower pH water on my outdoor plants with great results.

My hydro guy says he uses calmag and sensi a/b on his seedlings and gets great results. That is what I tried and it worked really well with Sunshine #4 mix.

5.5 - 5.7 water is too low for a soil grow, not sure what you're in... if it's soilless/hydro might be ok :)

Good to know on cal-mag not hurting seedlings.

just realized this would probably be a better setup for my custom light stand

I think the more acidic water chelates the minerals and metals in the soil and makes them more available to the roots.

i'm having second thoughts now on laying out the extra money to build all the shelves and everything this weekend... thinking i may wait another 4 weeks until they go to flower. Combination of money issues + security with the daughter here... gonna move'em to the new location and get that going horizontal and get'em in their new pots this weekend, just not gonna build the weed pyramid of power yet :) i'm gonna get some of the 2x4's for it though and set the pots on them to angle the growth to simulate shelves/vertical so they're ready for the shelves when they're ready. they don't really need to be on the shelves til flower anyway. It'll be a little bit coolor in that room in september as well since this is the hottest month of the year :)

Probably as much as the money though is the daughter issue... i don't see how we build that with her 25' away without curiosity taking over :) so hoping she either leaves in the next 4 weeks or i figure out how to make that happen :)

Understood. May be she needs to go watch a long ass movie or something. :)

Or have all the lumber precut at the store, see if they'll drill em too, then all you have to do is use a screwdriver.

Idk. Just thinking

i hadn't thought of that... do they do that? still not sure how it'd work, but i'll think about it... the good thing is if i change my mind and i have the money i can always go ahead and do it :) it looks like if i did end up waiting til 4 weeks from this weekend to do it after all that i'd still have time to get the 2nd batch of seeds done before christmas, so that works out. I still have the same problem in 4 weeks with the daughter unless she's gone. Problem is, she has no transportation currently... only way she can leave is if i take her

Day 16 - everyone looking good except the 2 problem cheese children... they do not seem to be getting worse and the really sick one actually looks a bit better... we'll see if they make it. One of the AoS had a bit of mg def but appears to be getting over it already.

So I just gave'm a thorough watering (after a light watering last time). Also gave'm a good inspection individually. A good time was had by all. They are needing to be moved in the next day or two as they are outgrowing the cab at this point. I will probably go ahead and move them tonight or tomorrow -- unfortunately, I checked the ups status on my pot order and it looks like they are not coming in til monday (*bullshit*). They should make it til then as they're not rootbound yet but they are definitely getting too big for their britches and the biggest ace of spades is either starting to need N or starting to get too big as it's petiole leaves are starting to lighten. Most of the others still have green petioles though, so we're just on the cusp of Pure Blend time (probably the first watering after transplanting).

I've decided the 2 sicklies are going to make it, not getting worse, and the sickly one is actually greening back up significantly. I think the plants getting too dry and/or pH more than the LEDs was the real culprit - I think the LEDs just make the pH/dryness issue more severe to deal with. I'm going to start watering a bit more frequently - basically before I was waiting until the plants all looked like the top was dry, now i'll go when several start to look dry. Today about half were looking dry and half still moist. The ones that were moist had very little water except for the 2 sickly ones I gave extra water to last time. Everybody got a thorough watering today except any that still had some weight to'em in which case they just got a light watering to even'em up with the others. This soil is so airy I doubt they can be overwatered. The problem with very airy soil is soil dryness comes on REAL quick once it gets past a certain point. Definitely tells me which phenos are drought tolerant though and which are not at all :)

All except the runtiest one or two plants have side branch buds either forming or already branching off. The AoS are getting big! Lotta indica there. It's gonna be a fantastic harvest in 3 months.

I like LEDs - no plans to change - good results, less heat (= less stress). I'm just trying hps+led this time because of the vertical and to see what difference the combo provides.

Plants are growing growing growing... between their watering yesterday afternoon and this morning they pretty much outgrew the cabinet... all shading each other and leaves blocking each other/bumping into walls, etc... I moved them to the closet upstairs today. It'll be a bit warmer but they'll probably like that. Same setup just a bit more space :) They have room to stretch their legs now until I get the permanent grow area set up...

I think those shelves are going to have to be sooner than later... once I put them in their bigger pots they are going to take off in growth even more than now. It looks like money isn't going to be a big issue just gotta figure out how to work around the daughter. On the bright side, it appears I was able to get the closet going up there without any extra stealthing to block light from coming out the door...

So today I have to do additional prep on the grow.

* Gotta buy more dirt (not enough)
* Gotta buy plastic for the new grow area and find some way to get that put up this weekend so i can get the full grow area up and going horizontal
* Gotta figure out how i'm going to hang the horizontal lights in the new grow area until I get my vertical setup going (nothing to support them at the moment)

Bigger plants definitely will be getting Pure Blend (the low strength formula) next watering - seeing more lightening of the cotioles and first leaves. Don't think the smaller ones are ready yet but they probably will be once they start taking off in growth in their new pots next week.
