I'm in the same boat, happily :)

Wheezer has a post #59 in his better late than never thread where he discusses curing in bins. I plan to use the paper bag method and transfer to mason jars for half and cure the rest in bins and storing them that way (checking once in a while). In his post he mentions removing the colas from the bin and trimming as needed after they are cured, which sounds really appealling to me! I'm not a fan of plastic containers but I only have so many jars.

My process starts weeks before harvest. 2 weeks out I remove fan leaves and larger leaves to give the buds more sun to fatten up. 1 week out I'll often stop watering. You have to be pretty good at weed to figure that out. I cut the plant at the base and hang upside down for 7-10 days. I'll manicure a lot of the plants while upside down and wet. It just saves time. Once you can't bend a small branch without it snapping, I cut off individual buds or colas and put them in the curing jars. I eat a lot of spaghetti so there's no excuse for not having glass. Get the oregano smell out because it WILL affect the weed taste. Open once a day for about 10 minutes. Do that for a few weeks then store them until use.

When I first harvest I always dedicate several branches to water curing. Manicure and cut off buds. Put in water. Make sure water covers whole bud. Keep for 24 hours, changing water at least once. Water will be very green. Take all buds and put it on a rack or something with a fan hitting it for another day. The buds will get completely dry and be extremely smooth with little taste and very potent. I do this so that I can smoke my grow without waiting and without completely damaging my bud.

I bought 4 cases of mason jars a year ago.. about 24$ total (walmart and target had them at 6.50$)

Once my ladies are say 1-2 weeks from harvest I remove the larger older fan leaves)

This is 2011 grow within 7 days of harvest... (mainly done to keep down my trimming time later.. )

Here they are hanging for 7-10 days it's hot and dry here in So Cen Valley

then once they are dry (stem the size shown are cracking or kinda cracking when snapped I trim)

have learned using a tub about this size and a good son who is allowed to help...

biggest tip I can suggest is get nice trimming scissors and iso to clean.. and a buddy to help!

1st I hang the big buds in a shed for a few days and I put the smaller buds in a brown paper bag. After the stems snap, I smoke the little buds and stick the big ones in jars, burping them twice a day.

Some say hang drying 7-10 days might be too much. I dunno I never actually look at the calendar while I dry. Seems like a week. The main indicator are your stems snapping.

On the contrary, thc is not water soluble meaning it will.not dissolve the thc. Put your buds in milk or alcohol, you got yourself some of the dankest milk/alcohol you ever tasted

I dont think the method has anything to do with the thc being soluable.. infact from what I remember thats the reason it's done in water

claims to increase the thc.. (wanna see electron microscopes data to cofirm it does.. like decarbing does)

I have never done it.. and hell I may try it with some this go round..

Right thats what im saying. The guy asked if water curing would remove all the thc from the buds. The answer is no because thc does not dissolve in water (in other words thc is non soluble in water)...so what thc is or isn't soluble in has everything to do with the water curing method because if thc was water soluble then it would not work. Not being rude im just confused gioua?

I agree water (tho cold water-ice water will knock and freeze the trics off) it will just fall to the bottom whole hence ice hash
I have not tried water curing.. but understand the reasoning to remove the chlorophyll.. this will take the green cut grass or hay taste

I dont like the idea you then have a 100% wet product and have redry it.. too many people are gonna get mold due to lack of checking or concern.

Curing is very USER specific..
I have smoked green that was dried in the microwave (harsh but works) left in the car 2-3 days.. (still kinda harsh and green) but worked (works even better for medibles since your not gonna really taste the harsh then)
