Air Exchange Rate

Doing a setup and I want to install 2 carbon filers in the room. Started reserching and HOLY CRAP! Which one? What size ? What colour? The flowering romm is 700 cubic feet and my clone room is 350 cubic feet. They are combined in one long basement room 23x7x7. Able to vent out anywhere. I have the specs for different filters, but I don"t know how much clean air I should HAVE to be bringing in and exchanging. Am I wrong to say, "Do the best you can and what you can afford because the more air you can circulate the better?" Without negative air of course. Any feed back?

Yes. Get the larger one than you think you will need the FIRST time, so that you're not kicking yourself and saving up to buy a larger one in 6 months.
You can always put a rheostat on a fan if it is a single speed, or partially block off a vent if you think you're moving too much air, but you can't safely/easily make it put out more than it was designed to.
just remember when you do your figuring, CFM is cu. feet per MINUTE, and 60 mins. per HR.
COLOR? the red ones move more air.......... Just kidding LOL.

hmmm .. I would do the mat .. need to exchanges the air evry 1-3 minuts .. depending on your temperatures ..

so if your in a hot place wher temps might become a problem try to get two ventilations that each can remove atlest 300 CFM

as some said .. get some with speed controle .. and maybe go a littel over (get some who can move +400 CFM) better to be on the "safe" side here ..

tho I use my fist 4" who became to small this summer for intake now .. and my new 6" for outtake .. so not a total wast .. provide fresh air/co2 from outside/cool room to my plants ..

also remember .. filters and tubeings aso. will also take of sumthing like 30% of the sug .. so get the number bigger then you think might be enough ..

I reccon two good 6" would do the job in your case .. but agin take filters/tuebing and temps in to consideration ..

sumthing like this ..

and make sure the filters have a CFM ration on the same or more ..

p.s.
place outtake high in the room/over the light .. wher hot air travels ..and intake low down or as I .. with some tubeings to a cooler place/room/window .. as temps do go up doing the night when lights is on .. dont want to keep reuseing the hot air ..

Ya, I was figuring two 400 CFM'ers would do him, but I didn't want to do the math for him first, and get that number in his head just in case he came up with more. :)
The rheostats are easy enough to wire in, and even wall mount as though they were regular dimmer switches for a ceiling lamp fixture.

I would suggest getting an 8inch aircooled reflector to suck the air out, with a strong 8in fanx2 and carbon filterx2 (for flowering room). I would suggest 1 6inch fan/filter (strong fan) for your veg room. In my opinion it is best to have negative pressure in a grow room so that you know all of the stank is sucked through a carbon filter. I would also suggest Linking your HID lights with ducting so they can all be cooled. I would personally aim for 50-100cfm more outtake than intake.

Do the rooms have Forced air intake (A/C)? Or will it be a passive intake? If forced air intake you may want to upgrade your AC's fan (EXPENSIVE!)
