I thought this might be an interesting read for some of you..............

A presidential election prediction model developed by two University of Colorado professors points to a big win for GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney in November.

The model, the only of its kind to use more than one state-level economic indicator, has correctly predicted the winner of every presidential election since 1980.
It predicts Romney winning the electoral college by a 320-218 margin and winning 52.9 percent of the popular vote when only the two major parties’ candidates are considered, the Associated Press reported Thursday.
Romney, it concluded, will win every state currently considered by pollsters to be a swing state, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire and North Carolina.
The model even predicts Romney will win Minnesota and Maine’s Second Congressional District, the electoral votes of which most pollsters consider to be “safe” for President Obama. Nevada and Iowa are the only swing states it assigns to Obama.
“Based on our forecasting model, it becomes clear that the president is in electoral trouble,” explained Kenneth Bickers, a political science professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder who developed the prediction model with Michael Berry of University of Colorado-Denver.
“The apparent advantage of being a Democratic candidate and holding the White House disappears,” Berry noted, ”when the national unemployment rate hits 5.6 percent. The incumbency advantage enjoyed by President Obama, though statistically significant, is not great enough to offset high rates of unemployment currently experienced in many of the states.”

this is an extraordinary situation. The model bases voter tendency on employment rate. In this election it is well known that the economy itself is in a state not normal in any other downturn.

The model doesn't apply here. I saw some of the graphs and believe this time it is faulty.

Obama by 11% is my prediction. Which electorates he will win I can't say, but all swing states are in his favor.

Most of the swing states, except for 2, are either tied or leaning towards Romney now. Add in Romney's continued measurable improvement, the momentum has shifted. Then add in Romney's LARGE financial advantage about to hit the swing states airwaves for the next 2 months........it will only be getting worse for Obama. Any reasonable and rational observer can see the tides have turned- like it or not.......

It seems Obamas big "celebrity" donors are a bit tighter with the cash this year.

Mad to think a guy who believes in a magical hat, seer stones, ancient space battles and golden tablets is gonna be king...

you're not a reasonable or rational observer. both fivethirtyeight and realclearpolitics have obama out in front with things trending his way at the moment.

So if it was today mittens would be screwed. I don't let that crap effect me. 4 years ago McCain was leading. Even though I want mittens to lose.

Obama not only has the edge in ALL of the swing states but he has went ahead in polling in the three key states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

I'm not voting Obama, I'm a socialist, I'm writing in Bernie Sanders being Nader isn't running this time around. I'm a objective observer here and whether I like Obama or not has nothing to do with my opinion, or facts.

The Romney ads will only hurt Mitt, he will lose more voters with those ads then gain idiot voters who don't know the fact that almost everything Romney says is lie. Lying is normal in politics but compulsive and obvious lies are another thing.

An Obama re-election will destroy the GOP permanently, I think this is why there is so much disbelief and lying going on within the republican party and those that still support it. If you believe the tides are turning in favor of Romney, you are living in the republican bubble.

If you're truely a socialist you're either poor or arnt a very good socialist.

There was uproar when "Socialist" French President Francois Hollandaise was elected because it turns out he was secretly stinking rich and uses all legal methods of withholding paying taxes.

The Socialist Party - "For the people who havnt made it yet (or they wouldn't support our party)".

I am not sure that an Obama election will destroy the GOP, after all, they have plenty of nutzoids in congress and I seriously doubt they are all going away.

What this election will do however is show that money is not always the deciding factor in a national election. It should serve to put the election riggers on notice as well as shore up ID equiped voters for the mid terms. What I forsee however, is that should Obama win and luck is with us, the economy will begin to hop and the right will be shorn of many of their favorite (faulty) arguments about government and the economy. I do hope it will break the back of the obstructionism in congress - even the most fortified businesses can no longer stand aside and wait claiming that "things are too uncertain".

So far as health care reform, it is possible that when it is absolutely shown that people like the reform, republicans will perhaps - Perhaps, swing in and begin to reform the reform to make it more palatable to everyone.

then again, they might do the same thing they are attempting with abortion and other issues, begin to erode it, defund it, or hobble it.

the point is that they likely cannot continue to break things in order to "prove" that government doesn't work or this president is a failure - if they do, and if dems retain the backbone they seem to have grown in the last year, Repubs will silence their radical factions and attempt major damage control over their image.

And the rightist talking heads, the radiocons and the dominionists will likely not stand down, all the better for the rest of us as we will have unmasked them for what they are.

In the brightest scenario Beenthere and Nonthiest and some of the others will be absolutely forced to face the truth.

You are fucking retarded if you believe that
-they already know what the truth is but to them that is irrelevant
-they will never be happy with a democratic black man as POTUS unless Limbaugh says it's ok
