How would you set up your 8'x4' tent? What lighting, venting, ect? Would 2 1000w XXXL hoods be too much? Also, can someone remind me about how many watts per square foot per plant?

i think a 4x8 tent is recommended to have two 600's, and a 4x4 is recommended for one 600. but i'm sure you could run two 1000's if you use a big enough blower.

To figure the watts per square foot required , you times width by lenght and devided that number into how many watts your light/s are producing and your goal is to give your plants at least 30 optimum 60watts per square ft. Example your room 8x4= 32......... 2) 600 w lights =1200watts....... 32/1200= 37.5 watts per square ft witch is perfect for your space.. ..... 600w bulbs produce less heat ,so you can place your bulbs closer witch = more lumens to the plants . Also to figure height that a bulb will reach ,figure out max lumens that the bulb produces and your goal is to give at least 10,000 lumens to the plant during budding and atleast 2500 during veg and something like 500 during cloning . For every foot a bulb is away from the plant it looses lumens so in turn the closer the plant it is to the light without getting burnt the more light/lumens it receives than that leads to faster ,larger denser growth.

Shore you can fit 2 -1000watt bulbs in there 1000x2=2000w .... 8'x4' =32...... 32 devided into 2000=62.5 but you will be fighting much more heat and in my opinion for that small of space the 600w are much more efficent .

Two 600W lamps and you will thank yourself, two 1000W lamps will create way too much heat unless you only plan to have your lamps running at night and it's winter all year round!

A room that size you can easily cool with an 8" fan running inline through two hoods with 600W not 1000W, if you can get a separate blower for each lamp and hood then 1000W lamps would be preferable.

Really if you can keep day time temps under 85 with lamps (of any size/wattage) running then you will be OK, 85+ temps for extended amounts of time is not great for the ladies unless you also have a constant high level of co2.

What do you guys think about a 1000w on a light mover in the 8x4 tent? Then I won't need to buy another hood/ballast....only a $200 mover and it will save on the electric bill.

I would take two 600w HPS over 1000w HPS anyday if it was inside a 4x8 tent. I expect many to disagree with me on this.

Ahhhhhhh. yes. I see, thanks man. I'm not questioning your advise....just trying to fully understand. Do you happen to know how many lumens the same brand 1000w bulb has per watt? Again, just trying to understand.

I would expect no one to disagree, 4x8 with two 600W lamps will give far better results than one 1000W lamp anytime, anyday.
