tips for flowering?

Im currently growing 3 super skunk autos that first showed pistils about 3 days ago. Im growing with fluorescent tubes and cfls and have changed most of the bulbs to low kelvin color temps. I've heard adding molasses to water can improve yield. Is this true? If so should I still be using my regular 8-4-4 liquid fertilizer too? Any other tips for increased yield or potency would be appreciated too.

personally i don't think molasses does anything for plants, it may feed microbes in the soil. Maybe feed 1 plant molasses and compare it to the others to see for yourself. As for the nutes, i would get something more geared to flowering, the one you mention seems higher in nitrogen than need be. It will work though. I use Epsoma Flower Tone with excellent results.

I would not use a high N nute on a flowering plant... it will get itself into your buds and leave a harsh flavour... Go get some flower stuff(ours was 0-11-14)

Would switch to flower nutes. Some are 3-4-4 others are 0-11-14. And stay away from budding tricks at first. Get a few grows under your belt first.

I've also heard that resin production happens during the dark hours, and have heard of people turning off their lights for 48 hours prior to harvesting so the plants puts its remaining energy into resin production. Anyone think this is a good idea?

yeah I figured I wouldn't want to experiment with stuff like supercropping and lst as this is my first grow. Just looking for simple stuff that's easy to do

Yes, That or when you pull leave them in dark for 48 hours. My girlfriend is too stupid to keep the lights off in my room so I do not get that option

dose that (48) hour actually work.. i mean next time i grow out the same strain ill get a few clones of it and do a test for my self but i just dont understand. they say uvb get more trichs. then no light gets more trichs? juts so confusing just like the dark days before flower? makes no sense. it doesnt get 48 of darkness in outdoors. unless you build something around it for the last 2 days. just seems idk but if it did actually work that would be pretty sick

as for mustard i started out on autos and still do them, they are fun lil buggers. so far have double diesel ryder, pineapple express and afgan kush ryder under my belt currently working on a la diva and a blu emammoth.

from my understanding, the 48 hours of darkness works by just sapping all the existing nutrients already in the plants, and since one would harvest right after, it would be okay for the fan leaves and stuff to be sucked dry of nutes. I really can't say myself if this works or not but have heard of others doing it and it kinda makes sense.

yes molasses help your soil`s micro life, with carps, that help the plant ..

beside that it also contains stuff like Ca/Mg Iron, zink, copper and other trace elements the plant need to take up nutrients..

I use it, last 6 week of flowering, a ts. in a gallon of water, fist deluded in a cup of boiling water then added to the water can, every other watering, in between nuts ..

some also report of "sweet" buds, dunno about that tho, just know its cheap and helps the plant with organic micros in flowering and I like to help my plant in flowering ..

about your 8-4-4 "Veg nuts"

I agree, need to stop high Nitrogen in flowering, tho fist two weeks of flowering (the stretch) is where the plant use the most..

so I would for sure continue with it a week or two, I do fist reach max nuts dose in flowering, and I fist start on the molasses and high P/K and other bud product once the stretch is over and last 5 weeks or so, fist two I treat like Veg. so to speak ..

final week I only use clean water and plenty, so Im sure the plant have used up any nuts left in the soil ..

this is what I use in Veg/flowering:

and remember less is more, keep it simple, find a few good product and get use to em, tho different strains also play a role here, some need high nuts and some is really sensitive ..

For outdoor you bring it into a dark room right after you cut it and leave it for 48 hours - It just makes me not have to look at them till they are a little drier but I guess it helps for something

Drying buds should be in the dark anyways.

about dark time up to harvest, I don't see a different, what I like to do, is time it,so I to cut em when I'm suppose to water em, so to speak, so the plant dont keep as much moist, help the drying process ..

agree, a dark, not to hot or cold room (70F) and not to high or low RH, I found it best around 40% less then that and the buds dry a bit to fast (in a few days instead of 5-7) tho nothing a potato or oranges pell cant fix in a few hours in the jar ..

Anyone know if I would be able to find good flower nutes at just hardware stores or like walmart? I'm kinda paranoid about going to hydroponics and gardening stores and such.
