It is a double edged sword IMO. On one hand anyone who has a job with a 401k plan and/or retirement benefits will see this as a good thing. On the other hand, trustfund babies get to live on tax free investments their parents or grandparents made in their behalf.

Thats the problem with a lot of programs. Like the billionaires living in 90mil condo penthouses paying 20k property taxes with the other 220k waived due to a "low income" housing program.

I did read that the 2 trillion added to military isnt really added to it. It seemed as though a mandatory reduction was coming up that would trim 2 trillion that he isnt going to cut. I dont agree with it btw, cut that 2 trillion. Either way...
That still leaves a lot of freaking money to come up with.
On the flip side, we have the same issues with Obama's plan that we still dont know. Raise taxes on the rich isnt going to even put a small dent into the spending.

you don't pay taxes on dividends as it is. If the total income pushes you up to a higher tax bracket then you would pay higher taxes on capital gains. I know people who live off that shit. They take their pensions and throw them in high dividend investments. After a while the dividends are paying back more then the pensions.

If the fiscal cliff happens then people will pay taxes on them. that is bad for a company because people wont invest as much since they wont get as much back. Stock will have to lower dividends or go bankrupt which will turn off even more investors. Bad cycle if it happens.

It is one of the few things that keep companies alive during hardships. Investors
