Tired of people say MG is not for Cannabis. I'm going to shut all of you up.

Well, today was the first time I felt confident enough to flush my MG MC 6mo... It was a good thing I did as I was experiencing some salt toxicity. Got this from fighting root aphids (got them quick) which required some soil drenching and drying out and what not...but the salt build up was pretty bad... the first TDS reading was almost 2000 ppm. I flushed until I got down to 340 ppm and tried to get ph back to 6.5. I noticed, while I was using tap water with a ph of 9.5 , that the ph would stay around 5.9 to 6.0. This is why MG users really have to use cal/mag a lot more specially since the soil keeps dropping down. I have roots organic for my next soil as it does not have the moisture holding material, but it still uses peat (which I understand is a hot ingredient in the soil). It will be interesting to see if I can keep the roots up around 6.5. The girl is recovering and still has a bad cal/mag deficiency... but it looks like P, cal, and mag all need around 6.5 or greater for soil uptake... It will be interesting to see if I can keep on top of it with periodic Epson salts spray before bed time. I hope I have better luck with roots... looks like I will be going with FFoF next purchase. I have four 5 gallon smart pots and the roots will only be enough to fill two of them... so the other two I will try FFoF. Out of all the soils that I have come across on the forums, FFoF seems to be the route to go. Will reply again as she recovers from her flushing and getting more Epson salt foliage feedings.
You flushes your time release MG soil?? that 334ppm or whatever is going to go straight back up with all that water sitting in the soil

That's one thing you gotta worry about if you end up with bugs that you think, gee I'll just flush them out..........Did you forget that MG soil can cause root burn by flushing the soil too early? Usually that stuff has 3 to 6 months worth of nutrients waiting for water to carry it to the plant. I would have pulled the plants from that soil, flushed the bare roots to get rid of the bugs, and then put the plants in new soil. One of the many tricks to making sure your soil doesn't have dormant eggs waiting to hatch is putting your new dry soil in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds before you use it. Any bug eggs will be zapped for sure.

that also kills good stuff in the soil like microbes thats why good soil isnt sterilized

Well, not sure, the soil is about 2 1/2 months old and looked like the N may have been going down as compared to the first weeks of veg. I am in week 6 of flowering and the salt build up had to go... so it was one way or the other.. loose the plant to salt toxicity or to burn.. which I think that the salt toxicity was worse. There was not 5 gallons of soil, probably only about 2 to 2.5 gallons... (I had to top it off with roots about 4 to 5 weeks ago). This is only bag seed and learning from it.. but you have to be able to flush your soil for multiple reasons so that is the main disadvantage to MG and also being a newb LOL. It looks like I will have to keep up with the Epson salt feeding (spray wise) in order to get her cal mag back up... We shall see, as I am learning with experience though.

I hope she survives :) will definitely keep this thread updated with her progress. You will either see a teary eye post in a couple of days or a "woohoo" post, hoping the later :). My new setup will be a lot better for growing as it is made for it, DIY is sometimes more of a headache (well half ass DIY that is LOL). I actually followed a DIY carbon build that worked great for about a day then the smell was back and at 7 dollars a pop for carbon replacement... much cheaper to go the commercial filter route. I had to tell my sister in law that I hit a skunk and it was still on the car... On the bright side, she smells very skunky though :)

I don't know if it is just wishful thinking, but 8 hours after flush and she is responding nicely... the top bud seems thicker and new growth on top. I think (knock on wood) that she will explode with some good bud growth in the next few days!!!

OK, here is my grow. This is the second year I've grown MMJ, using Miracle Grow MC Soil. The plants are kicking ASS , and appear to be healthy and strong. I germinated seeds on 10/4/2012, using the paper towel method. My seeds were feminine, so I germinated 4 seeds with the intension of only growing 3 plants. 1 plant was a runt, so I discarded that one before transplant. (I only wanted 2 plants, but the wife talked me into 3. My closet is small, and 4 plants made things real TIGHT last time!)

Germination took 1-3 days, so actual plant date was 10/7-10-/8. Transplanted on 10/23. Turned lights to 12/12 on 11/4/2012 and since then, plants have almost doubled in size (YES, doubled in size in 1 week!!!). Tallest plant is in left corner and is almost 3 feet high. All plants are showing female pistils, and plant in right corner is turning out some nice bud production.

I didn't use ANY ferts until 11/8/2012. I will only use a Bloom ferts and some Blackstrap Molasses towards the end of bud production. I carefully monitor my PH and ferts will be used with EXTREME caution. I wait until the soil is good an dry before watering, maintaining 70-80 degree temps most of the time. I have an exhaust fan that goes out my roof, and I use other fans inside the closet to keep things moving.

I'm more curious to know how that shit tastes when you smoke it. there is a reason NO and I mean NO professional growers use that stuff. Just sayin.
I would assume it tastes absolutely FINE! Just PM many of these people that commented this thread that have smoked their stuff using it, or post asking now..
