I was fired in SLC for being gay. one of the ugliest days of my life. They fought my unemployment claim. I won. :p
A place in Florida laid off everybody, including management, and tried to deny claims. I went to my hearing that lasted 30 seconds and won. It was bizarre. All the employees were waiting outside the courtroom. They called us in one by one. The company's lawyer said we were terminated for not meeting quota. The judge asked if we denied. We said yes. The judge said plaintiff's motion denied, and they gave us paperwork to take to the unemployment office. What a waste of time.

whats your point? sacking somebody for making racist declarations is wrong, but she was sacked for being a dumbass, and thats all right with me.
My point is that you specifically said that you cannot be fired for anything outside of work. Well, her being a dumbass is independent of her work, and moreover, if they let her go for being a dumbass, what does that say about them hiring her in the first place? You can be fired for things outside of the workplace. Point made.

I never gave an opinion on whether it was right or wrong, I merely said it happens

Many people are surprised to learn, whether from an employment contract or employee handbook, that they are an "at-will employee". But what does being an at-will employee mean? Being an at-will employee means that your employer can terminate your employment at any time, for any cause - with or without notice. An employer has every right to walk up to an at-will employee and say, "I don't like that your favorite color is purple. You're fired." There are very few, if any, remedies for you, unless your employer did something to violate your employee rights or broke labor laws.

glory holes and penis to vagina intercourse are not mutually exclusive, sir.
not exclusive but uncomfortable and nearly as awkward as mitt's grin.

the key to sodomy is the inclusion of ANYTHING for ANY REASON besides a penis and a vagina.

condoms: sodomy
french ticklers: sodomy
gimp masks: sodomy
vibrators: sodomy
cock rings: sodomy
a weed whacker, a live chicken and some peach preserves: definitely sodomy.
viagra: NOT sodomy. thats "medicine"
unless youre gay, then its sodomy.

no. i said SHOULD NOT. fuck you can get fired for liking cheese if your boss is lactose intolerant. but you shouldnt be. employment has become a thing most people cannot do without, living off the hamster wheel becomes more difficult every year, but if emploers are given MORE control over their employee's lives as you and cheezie seem to want (as long as the control is politically correct) then we will all become nothing more than serfs working for our overlord and casting our eyes to the ground when HIMSELF rides by on his new chestnut hunter, and praying our daughters are not quite pretty enough to draw the attentions of our liege.

if you accept the firing of a pothead for smoking pot, and revel in the dismissal of every dumbass who writes dumb shit about obama on their facespace page then dont be surprised when obama supporters start getting sacked for talking shit about mormonism or voting for democrats.

Opponents argue that right-to-work laws restrict freedom of association by prohibiting workers and employers from agreeing to contracts that include fair share fees, and so create a free rider problem.[SUP][15][/SUP][SUP][16][/SUP] The absence of fair share fees forces dues paying members to subsidize services to non-union employees (who are bound by the terms of the union contract even though they are not members of the union). Thus, these individuals benefit from collective bargaining without paying union dues.[SUP][15][/SUP][SUP][17][/SUP]
The AFL-CIO union argues that because unions are weakened by these laws, wages are lowered[SUP][17][/SUP] and worker safety and health is endangered. For these reasons, the union refers to right-to-work states as "right to work for less" states[SUP][18][/SUP] or "right-to-fire" states, and to non-right-to-work states as "free collective bargaining" states.
Business interests led by the Chamber of Commerce lobbied extensively for right-to-work legislation in the Southern states.[SUP][15][/SUP][SUP][19][/SUP][SUP][20][/SUP][SUP][21][/SUP] Critics from organized labor have argued since the late 1970s[SUP][22][/SUP] that while the National Right to Work Committee purports to engage in grass-roots lobbying on behalf of the "little guy", the National Right to Work Committee was formed by a group of southern businessmen with the express purpose of fighting unions, and that they "added a few workers for the purpose of public relations".[SUP][23][/SUP]

and unions are the magic cure for all our ills.

i been in a couple unions, they were SHIT. some companies simply turn the union into their HR department and the joint gets populated by the union boss's cronies. the unions always took a slice of my pie and delivered nothing but crap, their relationship witht he company was more important than a single employee so they became just another arm of the company.

fuck unions, and especially the teamsters.
and fuck the farm workers union with a stone dildo coated in broken glass and lemon juice.

You must have had some shitty jobs. Most of my working life was in Washington State which, my former lawyer told me, has some of the strictest labor laws in country. I've read their laws and I didn't find them particularly strict. They basically just ban discrimination. I never realized that in other states, you can be fired for any reason or no reason. How can one ever be secure in one's job?

I have been on both ends of the Union thing. I've been a low seniority stooge who got laid off while old lazy fuckers got to keep working, but I've also supervised Union employees. I found that the Union contract prevented me from being the douche that I would normally be. When it came time to make cuts, I had to follow the rules. Without them, I would have kept my buddies and that one chick that I was banging and probably that other chick that I was trying to bang. Despite their shortcomings, I think there is some real value in labor unions especially for larger companies.

Every federally funded company is required to mandate drug tests for their employees, and moreover, the employees have to pass the test based on the federal definition. It's law..
I'm not sure if that is totally correct. I believe that they have to maintain a drug free work place but the actual testing is not required.

My guess is that in a "few" years most of the smart, good workers will all have dirty pee. They may need to change the test to look for active THC in the blood vs. the inactive metabelites in the urine.

I'm pretty sure they have to pass the test if they will be directly working on the federal contractually funded projects. I just remember having to sign a bunch of shit when I was working on gov contracts basically saying that you are receiving gov funds, and are required by law to pass the drug test. I had to sign all that shit just to acknowledge that I understand that I will be drug tested, and why.

I could be wrong though, it has been a few years

Edit:
In 1986, Reagan made it mandatory for all federal employees to “Just say no.” The Drug Free Workplace Act followed in 1988. This made drug tests a requirement for any company that contracted more than $25,000 worth of business with the federal government.

while on probation, my officer had a test kit for mj that could tell if you had smoked in the last 4 hours.

Looked like a piece of litmus paper.

When placed on your tounge, if the test reacted positive, you were in trouble.

And this was 15 years ago.

The construction Union I belong to requires a 'Safe To Work' card which involves drug testing.

No card, no work.

I got mine and retired 6 months later, 10 years ago.

I actually stopped smoking reefers for 45 days to acquire mine and even after that time period the Dr called and said I still had detectable amounts of mj in my system.

But, I had 'Potted Up' (Fox News Slang) on a daily basis for about 30 years.

You probably wouldn't have to submit to a drug test if your job was, say, delivering pizza pies.

Unless you were involved in a car crash.

The value in Unions is the PRESSURE they exert on employers to do the right thing for us NON UNION workers

And whoever said Unions jobs suck
is correct. Most union jobs suck donkey dick. But working at a shitty union job is better than working the same job without a union
