Na man its not got places for 3 wires.Mines just has two,so a simple switch around will sort it. The brown wire must just be an earth.

Here in Southern AZ, in every season, we have dreams about _ambient_ temperatures _without_ the lighting as low as your high temps in your box _with_ the lighting. That said, this is the stage where heat stress really can take a toll. I'd move them out of the enclosure and just put them under a small T5 or even 2 or 3 CFLs if cash is the problem, at least until I got the box situation dialed in. (I just set potted clones on an open shelf under a 4-foot, 4-bulb T5, and they thrive.) Flowering is another story, and that's why you need to get this box figured out. I think you have time. At the life stage where your plants are they don't really smell yet, do they? Take the carbon filter out of the equation for now, and try to just get airflow going.

Hey just read your entire post and theres 2 things i would consider both are either cheap or free.

1) HOT AIR RISES. So taking your little fans in the bottom of your tent and facing them up is only blowing the cooler air up and forcing the warmer air down to the plants. Thats not good.

2) If it were me I would (if possible) take the light out cut a hole in the hood and screw a flange to the hood attach your duct there. Drawing air straight out of the hood (the hood is your heat source). Then attach your filter outside your grow tent on the discharge.


The only thing you have to buy is a flange to attach the duct to your light hood there cheap. Also if you think the fan is not powerfull enough limit your ducting as short as possible. The longer the duct the more restriction. the harder the fan works the more heat it makes and the less air it moves. All of those situations creates heat or cause your cooling system to be less efficient.

Can't copy a pic in ? anyway i have only 2 wires like i thought i have a pic but i can't upload it.I also have removed the CF and will leave it for an hour...

1,i have done this already mate.2,are you saying have the fan inside and the filter outside ? so i pull from the top and then blow out the air once its filtered ? i would need to create a chamber for the release air and have a sealed outlet....i could do this i guess i have some room above the tent....ummmm back up plan maybe.. thanks

I'm saying dont do the first one its a bad idea. Hot air rises leave the cooler air in the bottom of your tent where the plants are.

I'm saying cut a hole in the hood of your light dome, attach a flange to connect a duct to it and draw hot air straight from the light. It does not matter where your fan is weather its inside or out of your box. Just keep the ducting as short as possible.


So i pull from the top and then blow out the air once its filtered?

As far as your filter goes leave it off till you get your heat issue fixed. But what I would do is attach the filter to the discharge of the ducting so its not taking up space in your already small box. And it will help keep the noise down from the fan as well. Especially if your going to build a chamber around it.

Hay guys if your still interested i did a full strip down after work built a box to joined my ducting to the vent in my living room dropped that in to the hole ontop of the tent so now its a clean run and about 60cm long.took a part my fan and after hunting around on different forums i believe my fan is only one speed.moved my two small fans to a 45 degree angle blowing into the light which is now sitting about 8" above my girls..cut back the reflector and bent around about 2" on each end (was to noisy to cut holes i finish work a 2am,but will do this if i need to)still running my intake cheap and nasty but pulling from a different room now so no longer pulling from the ambient airflow.was hitting 31 when i got up,the filter is still off and i have reset the thermo for some clear reading later after work..i hope all my hard work pays off,i did a 11hr shift then 4hrs on my tent right after..but i feel happier and the set up now pleases my OCD. lets hope i'm getting closer,going to ring the company now about the fan to double check.so far i may need a muffler and stronger fan on pay day....

Tents still high it reached 36.1¤c humidity got to 60.Confirmed with store that the fan was single speed,he said they had so many broke returns where people hook up the brown and blow them..its now noisy and pulling ok without the CF attached.After talking to the guy and talking about buying a silencer.He said move CF above the tent and suck in at the top of the grow area through the filter.Muffling the sound and pulling from the top inside. Will build a box if needed.Just got baked and had a feng shui moment, placed inlet pointing at the light and i have the light hanging corner to corner,but with enough room to pass the airflow into heat out to the other corner straight up into the fan.If temps are better i will build a chamber for the air to pass out slowly without howling across the top of the tent.Then im hoping it will be just down to what fan i should up grade to..(can you people post pic or is it just me,no picture frame thing)

I have two 6" fan which don't move but are just above my girls running off the back tent poles.(able to move with growth)
I also have a small (cheap extraction bathroom style) fan blowing cool air in from the hole near the base.

I am hitting temps around 31+ with the light (standard 250w HID) up has high has the filter will let me get.
If i drop the the light to low i get even more heat issues ? i dont want lanky girls..

I want to run the light about 8" above the highest top but i nearly killed my 4wk old babies doing so ?

Why am i having heat issue with a 5" set up when i should be fine with a 4" ?

I have pic if needed.
Things i think it could be :-

is it best to move the pots closer to the light by raising the pots ?
do the fans need to move ?
should i be turning everything off when the girls sleep ?
is my inline TT125 not pulling the tent clean ? (filter is droped at a slight angle so the tents not blocking any sides)
stronger fan needed to blow air in ?
not enough ventilation around the tent outside ?

Any ideas anyone ?

clearly a Ds60 is not a great complete set up what should i upgrade or change aiming for silent grow to learn mainlining skills on 2 - 4 girls a run.

Also if i add a acoustic style box inside the tent will i suffer more heat issues?

Pics would help greatly, but no, don't shut everything down at lights off.
Leave the fans going, just watch your RH.
Do you have your fans pulling the hot air directly off the light fixture? Or just moving air around in there?
You could always add another exhaust fan, and make sure you don't have any obstructions to your intake.
And, no, moving pots closer to light will make them just as hot as moving light closer to pots.

Everything from this old post has pretty much been changed.I have my fans blowing across my girls at pot high still both 6" don't move.My intake is aimed up at my light,no cooltube effect just passing airflow.Will start to leave fans on now tho.Dog you have a similar setup ? Trying to work out if i need stronger fans first,still no vacuum effect.Not able to post pics still ? Site issues ?

I have a 100cfm S&P fan in a closet grow box. The fan works quietly and really does a fine job - no problems. I have to say the carbon filter I have reduces the flow somewhat but makes the air flow quieter. It's also mostly plastic so no problems in a humid environment.

thanks man,i want to get one of these fans for sure but i'm wondering if a cooltube would work in my small tent..just not sure how to set it up best for saving space and trying to keep it stealth.
