Actually he is wrong. The scriptures say to be IN the world but not OF the world. Christianity isn't a system of blacks and whites. It's making series of choices that follow your faith as closely as possible. But even Christ said to render unto Ceasar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's. It's not about sides (something modern evangelical Christianity seems to ignore), it's about living in the world and being a good example but not letting the daily shit get on you. Christ ate and visited with publicans and sinners (as they scriptures say) on a regular basis. He spoke to Jews and non-Jews without restraint. He didn't try to create barriers and exclusivity. Whoever is teaching this young man about Christ's ministry is leading him astray. He's not wrong for what he's doing,he found god,and he has to pick a side, bcuz their is no in between,it's either you are,or you aint.
What I have a hard time understanding is the need to eschew your former life when enlightenment is attained. Not only eschewing but denigrating. It boggles the mind and is not Biblical in any sense of the word.
