there is advice to give-

if you must, run hoods, with glass. if a bulb ruptures it's contained. if there is a short, regardless if the envelope has ruptured or not, the breaker will open the circuit. of course, if your knowledge of sparks is half that of politics, you're good.

also. bulbs are available that extinguish the lamp if the envelope is compromised.

I had a house that I was growing in burn to the ground when I was at work. I was very cautious with my grow room wiring and lights. Also had lights on for when I was home.....

Never thought a faulty 100 watt reptile heating stone would burn my house down but it did. Shit happens...fire can be caused by the most silly shit. Worrying TOO much will kill ya.

I do not use HID for this exact reason. My animals are too important to me.

At the end of the day, you can tell me a million times that HID is safe, but the fact is those bulbs simply burn very hot and there it is not worth the extra risk to me. T5's run at 95 degrees.
