hey peyote, are you saying I don't need to flush? I always thought that you had to flush when using synthetics
People need to more about the plant they are growing...do you flush your tomatoes when you grow them? No. Grow your cannabis right and it's the same way. Most harshness comes from improper grow conditions and bad drying techniques.

I might argue that some people use nutrients that have been labeled as blatant hazards to use on anything you ingest. I'm not sure exactly which brands but stuff that has been banned to grow tomatoes with, a cannabis grower could technically use, and some do.

I do get bothered when people blame harshness on flushing when I think curing is one of the main factors but I could be wrong.

I'm not a scientist but unless you're using harmful chemicals on your plants I imagine your good to go. I would strongly disagree that butane takes only the trichome heads.

Hmmmm. I have always "flushed" my plants for a week or two prior to chopping them. I've never really bothered to investigate whether or not it's necessary. There seems to be some disagreement on this. I'm open to learning something new ....

Anyone have any links/info that supports or disproves the idea of flushing a plant?

Play nice.

there are two definitions of flush btw...

there is your "flush" which in reality should be called your Finish... by only watering... this is what synthetic growers and organic growers do..

then there is your "flush" which synthetic growers have to pour massive amounts of water to leech out the salts left in the soils that are fucking gross and dangerous. ...when done improperly it's not only harsh but can crackle (left over magnesium) and taste terrible.. i don't want you left over metals and salts.

I have decided to do a side by side comparison after this current run is finished to decide for myself this whole flushing thing. This is the only site I've seen where everyone follows like lemmings on the flushing thing, In fact, most people I've talked to on the other site say its silly. I mean, it makes sense to not starve your plants during the time they need the nutrients the most at the very end.

I'm done doing things because it is suggested, likely by people that know little about the biology behind it. I'm changing my garden over to a 3 stage hydro setup, so I'll be able to run the same strain in 2 seperate systems, one flushed, the other not. Then the answer will be made clear.

No, water soluble ferts will not make your bud crackle. That's called your shit got pollenated late in the game, as in microseeds. I've grown with GH's maxi line in soil. I didn't flush. Those buds are not harsh, and not one crackle. Please don't spread stuff like that, it's just not true.

...sorry but not. Mg not "flushed" from synthetic nutes will crackle when burning. Edit.. after a quick search it appear the phos. will add to crackle and make it burn hotter. again.. all the more reason to go organic.

even sinsemilla can crackle if not finished and cured correctly.

Whatever you say. I'll just go with the fact that I didn't flush any of my outdoor plants. Interestingly, no crackle... From any of them. Where did you find this information?

from the hundreds of sites and reading cannabis info. just like the many myths of growing. but i've also smoked "cured" and crackling weed that had clearly not been "flushed" which again is a thing that is of synthetic nutes and not organics. and its crackles just like magnesium does. and the taste is usually offensive a well.

i read it on rollitup, grasscity, icmag, you name it.

it goes along with the myth of flushing to begin with..

I wieghed the buds out to 127g, approximately 4.5 ounces. I blasted them yesterday and am currently waiting on the vac purge to finish up, so far about 10 hours of vac purge over low heat and it's coming out quite nice. Nice light tan color, honeycomb texture.

Will post up pics tonight of the finished product and total wieght. Hopefully it's enough to make it worth my time.

Only got 18.2 grams out of this run, was hoping for more but oh well. Here's a pic. Thanks for the suggestions, you guys were right, you can't taste the nutes in the extract. it's nice and smooth.

I picked this rig up at Nuggy's. I thought it might be a little smoother and easier for Belle. It is. I'm using it a lot as well. I wanted to look for a Roor like this, but smaller than this one. I looked at a few websites, but couldn't find the right shit. I should probably look before I am dabbing. lol. I figure maybe grab another one downstate instead.

I've been meaning to get a dabber like this for a while. always see them at the head shop I go to. you like it compared to a traditional hood/nail setup?

These are the 2 that I have. Belle has a smaller one, like the one on the left.
I actually had that one on the left soaking in green glass clean overnight. It is a swing arm.
I like it as well. The dabber it the long needle looking thing that you grab the dab with.
I took atleast a dozen pics of RD-mi extract, those are the two best looking picks of the Sour Diesel. I have others in the safe as well.
