Watering plants in flower.?.?.?

I currently have had my girls in flower for past 17 days now and things where looking great. I read some where that once your roots touch water in a drip system you no longer need to have the pump on to run water to top of bucket. This made sense so I took pump out as to assure res temps stay low. Ever since I did that my Sativa plant has been looking a little droopy. Her roots are touching water but not covered as much as other plant. My WW roots have exploded in the water and get bigger daily. The droopy plant has growing roots as well just no where near as massive as WW ones. So I guess what I'm asking is should I put the pump back on or throw a bit more water in so all roots get covered thouroly not just little more then tips? Idk if I should just leave it alone, maybe it is just getting use to the change in watering... Idk, let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Well since no one replied I take it that no one has ever tried anything as far as water cycles. Ive looked over the site and found very little on this topic. I have since put the pump back and the girls look great, back to normal. My cuttings and seedlings only get water and nutes when the lights are on. So once lights go out so doesn't the water. This actually seems to have increased ALL PRODUCTION with the plant. It's growing at a rapid pace and the roots are all already out of the net pods and it's been only about 4-5 days. So being that the next set is use to the water shortage I will keep it like that through out entire cycle. I can't put pics up but if any one wants to view my setup try copy and pasting this link for my Chanel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKYpkSKTLtA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I'm not sure why or how you would water in hydroponics? are your plants roots not submerged?

I have two plants one has roots submerged and the other one only the tips of the roots touch water. The one that barely touches water was the one that started dropping. Being that they are in the same bucket I had to put the pump back on.

Stop the top feed when the roots are well developed in the water.
See but I did stop the top feed and my Sativa plant got all droopy. The WW was fine but that one has shit loads of roots in the water. The Sativa just started touching water. It has like one root 1" deep in water. I guess it needs to develop more roots, then I can stop the top feed. May I ask what is the purpose of stopping the top feed? Just because it's no longer needed after a certain point or does it serve a purpose to stop top feed?

Hello SFF....

I use top feed drip rings all the time......They tend to get plugged up about half way through bloom, then it doesn't matter anyway......I think it helps, keep more oxygen in the buckets....I have one more week to go on my grow and I have three out of six drip rings that are still dripping.........just my 2 cents............nitro..

If the tips are just touching the waterline the rest will dry out. Put a airstone in so it bubbles and splashes the roots hanging in open air. Submerging the roots completely in water works also but you have to make sure the water is well airated.

Good Luck

I am waiting another week or two before I go with out the top feed. I am just doing this so that the roots in the Sativa can grow a bit more and take more water, that way it doesn't droop.

I have a huge air stone in there with a pretty powerful pump so that thing blows air like no tomorrow. I have that in all my setups. If you guys go to my video on youtube you can see the plants now with the top feed back on. If you go back to Day 14 I believe you can see it droopy. In the video I had forgotten that I had stopped the top feed. If you have time please you and anyone else check my videos out and let me know what you think. I would like opinions from those who do this and know much more then I. Thanks for all help so far! Below is my link, you can click right on it, if that doesn't work copy paste I guess. Thanks again!
