New to Smoking & New to Growing

How often are you watering mate? Over watering is usually the first thing that people do when starting out. Only give them water when the top 2-3cm of the medium is dry. Overwatering can stunt the growth, i learnt the hard way when i first started thinking it was a nute issue! The leaves should be almost sticking up toward the light if they are truly happy. If they droop toward the medium they are getting too much water! Oh and...patience is the main thing when starting to grow. I know its hard but the rewards are so worth the wait :) good luck mate, looks like you have a treat setup!!

I didnt think i was, but now that you mention it i might actually be over watering it. they do seem like the are drooping down a little, i think i had spidermites at it already because i saw very small red dots on the leaves and some slight discolored spots. so in my super baked mind i decided it was spider mites and i googled home remedies to fix it and i came upon one that said to use alot of water and a teaspoon of dishing washer fluid and some oil. so i mixed that up and watered my plant with it. now that im sober, im thinking i may have overeacted abit lol. so ill see what thatll do to effect the plant now
yea im still working on my patience, but ill manage haha

lol your doing all the exact same things i did when i started growing. started out in the closet with some florecent lights, then i found out that florecents dont do very well so i got a 400 watt mh and hos from amazon.com for 160 bucks shipped. that light got too hot in the closet so i got a tent. still to hot so i got a 6 inch fan, ducting, and a air cooled hood and was good to go. your almost there man! lol. i would really suggest getting a HID light. you can do about 1 or 2 little plants with your light, with a 400 watt hid you could do 8-10 if you wanted and get some good yields. even a 250 would work good and is a little cheaper. also i dont know what growing medium your using but i would look into some fox farm soils, it seems to work pretty good without a lot of issues. i would say your probably over watering it. stick half your finger down into the soil, if you feel any moisture at all you dont need to water it. its good to let the soil dry out good between waterings cause the roots need to breath. also you shouldnt be feeding it anything this early in its life. wait till it gets a little bigger and starts to turn a lighter green before starting to feed it anything.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE GROW!

haha yea similar but im only planning to do maybe 1-2 plants at a time since its all mainly for personal use with abit to friends to help cover my costs a little if i can hook that up since alot of my friends dont like smoking often at all
and i havent started feeding them on anything just yet, at this rate at week three they might be a good size to start to nute them. from memory they are only 10-12 days old lol

Haha lol mate, always happens when i get baked as well ;)

Well now all you have to do is check every day to see how wet they are and then once its dry enough you know how long they can go without! You're learning quick though mate so wont be long and you'll have big fat resinous buds :-)

well i grow for personal stuff as well but you gottta grow enough to supply you and your friends till the end of the next grow cycle and even growing a plant as fast as you can it takes about 3 months and i need more than 1 or 2 plants to last me that long you know?

True, didn't think about that. I guess from this grow i can decide how to approach the next one :). This grow should hopefully finish a week or two before my hoist inspection if all goes well. So I'll have a week or two to decide what approach I'll take next

Also try and take cuttings just as your plant shows its sex so those cuttings will be ready to put straight into the next setup when the inspection is done. You can keep them growing slowly just under a fluro until you want to put them in the tent :-)

OK so a new update, i would post a picture but nothing much has changed aside from the first leaves have gotten a little bigger and the second set are very very slowly getting bigger. Its the 5th of December now, the last pic i took on the 28th of November doesn't look too different.
Any ideas on what could be causing the slow growth? I haven't watered it for a few days now because the soil still feels kinda moist
I will check soil again when i get home and possibly re water. Are there any nutes i could give her to help grow?

Hmm as long as they are looking healthy mate, you could give them a light seaweed fert as its natural, but just keep it light, like 1/2 strength. Other than that when they're young i add a few drops of superthrive and 1mL of rhizotonic to 1L of water every 3 days and plain water every other water! Actually, i use superthrive and rhizotonic for all of veg as it gives them B vitamins and the rhizotonic promotes root growth. Strong roots = solid plant and solid buds in the end :)

Thanks for that, will have to look at getting some next week. Going away for a long weekend so I'm hoping there will be some decent growth :)

Yeah definitely worth looking into and if you're in the US you can still get superthrive from a shop. They banned it here so i had to get it off ebay! Works well and only use it for veg, not flower :) Have a good long weekend mate!

Dont stress mate they look about right for 15 days old, trust me they'll take off after about week 3! They just take a bit to get going but once they do they go like a rocket :)

The seasol is sweet just give it a 1/4 dose for now once a week and then water afterwards! I use a similar product from bunnings ;)

i cant wait for her to start going crazy, the misses is surprised at the growth its getting now. cant wait for her to see when the plant starts taking off! :)

i watered first then added a fairly diluted mix of a low seasol dose, would it matter that i added seasol after watering?

Ha! The misses will go nuts when they get to a month old mate!

Nah wont matter about the seasol on top, if you get worried just give it a little trickle of water tomorrow, then leave for a few days to dry out :)

Just thought of something else that will definitely help them grow quicker. Hang some reflective sheeting around the plant and get some air movement in there. Most of your light would be lost outside the area of your plant, if you can box it in and get it reflecting it will give the plant a lot more light and give you
more effecient lighting! The air movement is a must too, good for strengthening stems and gas exchange of o2 that is expelled during photosynthesis :)

edit- forget what i said about blocking it off, just remembered you got a tent, sorry man getting late and im baked lol. Definitely get some more fans though for air movement, you can never have too much air movement ;)

Yea i did start in a cupboard but quickly decided on the tent lol
I've got a small 3"fan blowing directly on the plant with a gentle breeze and I've got my 6" centrifugal exhaust that I'm about to set up once i get my insulated ducting in.
Thing sounds like a fucking jet with out any ducting lol

I'll keep you updated Calmlikeozil :) hopefully my first grow should go well!
