new hortilux are now e-ballast compatible but I never had any problem running them in a digital before the change. There's an old saying, you get what you pay for. I believe that to be true in this case as well. I think hortilux are best for magnetic and ushio are best for digital.
http://www.lightingsupply.com/hid-bulbs/high-pressure-sodium-hps-bulbs.aspxcan someone provide a link to where I can get cheap 1k and 600 w hps bulbs that are of decent quality
I've seen these charts before, and I guess it just doesn't make sense to me. If there is more of basically all wavelengths in CMH, then why are they lower in lumen output? I know, lumens are a measurement of visible light... Still, based on those charts, the CMH should put out more lumens than HPS, and they don't.View attachment 2439604
Well as you can see that is bs...I read that about some 10000k mh bulbs...as youy can see from the graphs the cmh has alot more blue and even twice as much red output as hps...is what I run and I love 'em
if you notice there is much more yellow and green in hps and those are the wavelengths our eyes are most able to see and since lumens are based on what humans see the lumens score higher ..where cmh is higher red violet and blue is what plants use most but we see least so being further away from the center of lumen measurement scores lower in lumens... usable energy output for plants though is greaterI've seen these charts before, and I guess it just doesn't make sense to me. I also want you to know that I respect you and followed your thread on reflectors on ICmag...while I cant' seem to locate the test I performed with a nist certified 40K light meter I do know that the PL Deeps were amazingly even in disperal with only a peak of about 600 more lumens dead center...and it is obvious from the results in the plants that they are very well designed....the 830 watt CMH uses a mh 1000 watt ballast...pulse or probe start...A friend who is running one had his ballast set to hps and it worked that way for months before he realized....must be mag coil ...no digis...and he absolutely loves his and said now he will never run a hps again...hope it helpsThanks. So, where do you get the ballasts for the 830w CMH lamps?
http://www.greners.com/i/grow-lights/hoods-reflectors/air-cooled-vented/sun-systems-luxor-8-reflector.htmlThe 830w CMH is a vertical-orientation-only lamp. Ho horizontal application per Phillips, so I can't use it.
and doesnt work using digital ballasts.... 4 ft parabolic hoods will workThe 830w CMH is a vertical-orientation-only lamp. No horizontal application per Phillips, so I can't use it.
$531 to my door for just the hood.,.... a 4 ft parbolic cost $45 plus the socket/cord $25...$70Price: $269.08 + $262.35 shipping to Colorado.....
