lol with what? 600? 1000? air cooled? my tops stay about 8 inches from my bulb with my aircooled hoods
That's what I thought.. But I'm at 16 inches.. no problems or burn... I wanted to install an oscillating fan but I didn't.. I just have 2 6 inch fans running on the canopy 24/7.A 1000watts will bleach the leaves and cook them.
i put mine bout 1ft from canopy but dont control the temps to lower it if ur temps r fine nd its not hurting the plants ne way at all, good! some people putthere light closer wit the right setup, nd 2 600s is always gonna be preferences of who u talk to , i want 2 1000 watters fuck 600s1000w! air cooled.. canopy stays at 74.. maybe I should move it closer? How close is too intense for 1000w? Granted temps stay up to 79F max.. First time with this wattage. Also reasoning behind two 600w instead of 1x1000w? Isn't 1kw the most efficient lumens/watt?
i personally have never used a 1k but it CAN bleach the leafs. not sure how close it has to be but its possible. and im almost positive that the 600 watt is best for lumens per watt which is why i said that.1000w! air cooled.. canopy stays at 74.. maybe I should move it closer?

or better yet 3 600si put mine bout 1ft from canopy but dont control the temps to lower it if ur temps r fine nd its not hurting the plants ne way at all, good! some people putthere light closer wit the right setup, nd 2 600s is always gonna be preferences of who u talk to , i want 2 1000 watters fuck 600s

lol there you go 1.66 more lumens with the 600!From http://www.eyehortilux.com/products/High-Pressure-Sodium#shps
wattage | intial lumens | lumens per watt
1000w - 145,000 - 145 lumens per watt
600w - 88,000 - 146.66 lumens per watt
400w - 55,000 - 137.5 lumens per watt
250w - 30,500 - 122 lumens per watt
So were looking about 1600 lumen difference 600w vs 1000w.. That's like a 25w cfl.. Pretty negligible to me.. Though I understand the benefit of using 600w lights when going a couple kw.. better canopys and stuff .
Good to know you guys are getting to like a ft from your canopy with no problems. I can't raise my light any further, but they seem happy so I'm just letting them go .
Are those 2 carbon filters? If so I don't think you need the one on your hood ventilation and the other one would probably do better if it were in the tent. Here's my 600w air-cooled setup in a 2x4 tent.

Here's outside the left side of the tent. Fan for tent, fan for air cooled hood, ballast and a variable speed dial for each fan.

Right side of tent showing two of the three intakes (third is below). I use cheap filter mesh on them to keep dust out of the tent.

Inside of tent with tower fan in corner for air circulation. I'm going to start loading it up in about a week or so.

I attached a wireless temp/humidity sensor to the top so I can monitor even when tent is closed up. Have another one in the my seedling/veg cabinet.
I agree it's overkill but I have zero odor. The fan to my hood is running about 50% speed and the one from the tent runs at about 15%. Two fans at lower speeds makes less noise than one at a higher speed and I only have about a 4 degree rise over ambient in the tent. Are those 2 carbon filters?
