I'm a douche cause you're in a wheelchair? How is your plight my fault? You're pissed because you only get $800? You seem to think I set that amount, get over your bitterness. And if you were making $30 an hour why do you only qualify for $800 a month?

My point was if someone is looking for a job then how are they disabled as defined by Social Security? One of my good friends is a Social Security disability Attorney and I know if there is ANY type of work someone can do then they do not consider that person disabled, thats why people spend years fighting Social Security, some of these SS judges think if Stephen Hawking can earn a living anyone can.
First, SSI is capped at a certain amount.

Second, he was calling you a douche because of this, I'm pretty sure:
SSI is for degenerates that have never worked and are disabled.
Guess my Grandmother is a horrible degenerate that never worked. Oh, wait, she isn't... My Grandmother was a single mother of two working her ass of in car dealerships in the 70's/80's. That was back when they told women "If you want more money, get a husband." when they asked for raises. She got a debilitating disease when she was in her mid 40's (M.S.), and was never able to work again. She's been fighting a constant battle just to barely retain the ability to shit unassisted and not go entirely blind for the last 20-odd years now.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues (not Social Security taxes):
It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and
It provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.

Hey! My Grandmother is aged, too blind to read anything that's not a billboard, disabled in several other ways, and has little or no income. She uses her money to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.

Seriously dude, you made a dick statement. Acknowledge it and we can all move on.

Obesity is no longer a listed impairment but it is still important in your Social Security Disability claim. This means you will not find a listing for obesity in any of the categories of the SSA medical listings. However, Social Security is still required to consider the impact of obesity on one's disabilities. Many of the listings actually have paragraphs that explain how obesity may affect the evaluation of certain other listings. Obesity is still a medically determinable impairment and its effects must be evaluated when determining disability in SSD and SSI claims. So adjudicators are required consider the effects of obesity has not only on certain listed impairments but also when assessing the claim at the other steps of the sequential evaluation process which includes its effect on the individuals residual functional capacity. Social Security Ruling 02-01p makes clear that obesity can be a severe impairment and therefore a disability even if it is the only impairment. Obesity is to be considered a severe impairment if it significantly limits an individual’s physical or mental ability to do basic work activities. Obesity will be found “not severe” only if it is a slight abnormality (or a combination of slight abnormalities) that has no more than a minimal effect on the individual’s ability to do basic work activities. SSR 02-01p states “individuals with obesity may have problems with the ability to sustain a function over time” further “n cases involving obesity, fatigue may affect the individual’s physical and mental ability to sustain work activity.”

Do you not understand the difference between SSI and SSDI?

SSI is for disabled people who have not earned work credits to qualify for SSDI, so it is for people who have not worked and it is less than SSDI. SSDI is for people who have worked and become disabled. My statement that SSI is for people that have not worked is true you degenerate dumbass.

I will concede that I had the wrong SSI. Too many damn gov. acronyms. I used to help my grandma apply for a different one. I see nowhere in the requirements for SSI that you can not have worked. These are the requirements for SSI though: http://www.ssa.gov/ssi/text-eligibility-ussi.htm . I looked high and low, you know what I couldn't find? One word saying you didn't qualify if you had paid into the system. It says you have to be 65 or older and disabled. How the fuck do you live to be 65 and never work? Lets think about this for a second, I mean really. I admit I was talking about the wrong SSI before, I'm pretty sure. However, your presumptions about the recipients of the SSI you speak of holds no water whatsoever. That link is the official SSA website, it has all the info you need. Please show me the part I missed.

How can you say that?!

The Kenyan Fuhrer won't be happy.

That's true to an extent. Where you're wrong is that people on SSI do work. They have programs designed just for that. I worked for years while drawing. There are limitations on how much one can earn but if fully utilized and wisely managed (HUD and SNAP benefits to name a couple), people can live a content lifestyle. SSI is supplemental income. It is meant to be supplementing your income while you work your way upwards in life. Unfortunately, this does not happen very often as most just draw on it instead of using it as how it was intended to be. <--- remember my cultural killer comment earlier? It directly applies here. Especially when the dependency extends out to SNAP and HUD as previously stated.

People do not understand what supplement means and therefore are not being weaned off the teat and this just destroys us. We have got to set limitations. It's obscene what's being pegged as a disability these days. A man was recently classified as disabled because he was addicted to heavy metal. Granted this is in Sweden but it's a stepping stone to just how things are sure to come.

I believe there is a better way to help the disabled than just giving them cash to do whatever they want with it. Your tax dollars definitely paid for a few dime sacks for me back in the day... which isn't cool.

I've been asking my father-in-law the same question for years. Really. All he does is shrug and say I can't. He's not a stupid person either. He struggles with English in the worst way. Sign to him and you will have the most intelligent discussions but to see him write... d'oh. Language barriers aside, his SSI/SSDI (he gets both) among other financial handouts so he has no desire to even try. He is content and has the "woe is me" ingrained into him. He truly believes he can't. He has accepted his doom, if you will.

My brother-in-law also receives SSI/SSDI. He is trying to work though his thinking is pretty close to his father's.

no your a douche becuz of your opinion and your views. but your still free to them and your douchery. carry on. ahh on a side note there is work we can be doing. its just hard to find an employer willing to lose the few bucks by hiring someone disabled. its not very cost effective in most workplaces to hired our crippled asses to be honest. but we still try and normally get shot down becuz of a guy that can lift a tv or say hola. its not as simple as you make it seem is what im trying to say. no offence with the douchery. its just the way i talk. lol.

and i only qualified for 800 a month becuz i wasnt paying into the taxes long enough in life before i got hurt. i was injured at a young age for reason other than my own.

i had this whole spiel thought out for a rebuttal but im too tired and in too much pain to deal with it. maybe tomorrow.

you said clearly earlier that "ssi is for degenerates that have never worked a day in their life." i believe. so your saying im a degenerate becuz i didnt have a chance to work long enough in life to earn ssdi before my whole life changed and i was injured and suddenly broke and losing my place and truck and dirtbike and motorcycle and girlfriend and had my credit shot to shit with the 200,000+ in medical bills i couldnt afford to pay anymore becuz i went from earning 4000+ a month even more with overtime to earning -800. bravo. im a degenerate. just becuz your friend is a specialty lawyer doesnt mean that you are.

hmm.. last time i got in this argument i got brained by a hot but incredibly crazy bitch, but here goes:

the cochlear implant lets deaf people hear, i should think that would be a good thing. they are no more a plot to steal your deafness than glasses are a scheme to rob blind people of their blindness.

my gam gam was blind, and i assure you if some guy in a lab coat offered her a chance to see by installing some electronic eyes she whould have jumped at the chance. if some other blind person called her a sellout for getting the ocular implants he would be a dick, and if he wasnt blind, i would punch him in the nose. if he used some of the language i've seen about people with cochlears, i'd flip out the lights (just to be fair) and fuck him up.

thats just my opinion on the matter, feel free to flame away now, but i doubt youll be satisfied. last time i had this argument i finished off with "How do you know im shouting? Remember? YOURE DEAF!" just before she hit me with a baseball bat.

and i still feel the same way. and she was ALMOST as hot as she was crazy. almost.
Hot? Send her my way. I bet I could tame her. She sounds like a Deaf wannabe. I got what she's looking for. Note the bolded...

This is a special meeting place for people who have a deep felt desire to wear hearing aids for pleasure even though not deaf, and for those who find that hearing aids and deafness have erotic and fetish qualities.

It is also a place to discuss the more radical topic of being a deaf wannabe, and a meeting place for those who have decided at some time in their life to 'cross the bridge' and choose to become deaf by impairing their hearing.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Deaf-Wannabee/

We're not going to argue about cochlear implants but I don't really want to get into it right now. It really is a whole different conversation that requires the prior understanding of a lot of fundamentals before we get into something as complex as cochlear implants and it's negative impact on bettering the lives of Deaf people. I feel pretty good that I will be able to convince you that cochlear implants are not the solution. I'll say a little bit now but let's mostly save the cochlear implant discussion for another time. I do not think their use impacts culture as much as you seem to think. Their harm comes from hindering the progress of language. Centuries of trying to amplify hearing and then trying to teach a Deaf person a spoken language... is just a failure that will not stop being a failure. Total-communication is an utter miserable failure. We must take a bi-lingual/bi-cultural approach to language. I can only hope that one day it will become common knowledge that Deaf people are not stupid. They just don't speak your language.

i dunno. i work in a shop,, and in the last 4 years iv'e had like 6 or 7 deaf people come in, and they usually do as follows:

walk in, approach the service counter and SHOUT UNINTELLIGIBLY at the person on duty. they call me on the radio and i swagger on over. the deaf person then turns to me and SHOUTS UNINTELLIGIBLY at me. i sign "How may I help you" MOAR SHOUTING!
i sign again "Do you Sign?" MOAR SHOUTING (one bitch grabbed my fingers and twisted, which as i understand it is something of No-No...) i then proffer a pen and a pad (which no non-signing deaf person has EVER had on their person in my shop over the last 4 years.) and they scribble some demand and shove the pad into my face...

now i dont mention that i sign. fuck those assholes. if they sign first and arent dicks ill wiggle my fingers like a mofo, but otherwise i keep my hands to myself. maybe all the deaf people in sacramento are just dickheads.

Absolutely a LOT of Deaf people are rude. No doubt about that. There is also an entitlement bug floating within the community but the pen and paper thing... I wouldn't be so hard on us for that but the shouting is uncalled for. Keep in mind... earlier I stated that most deaf people (note the little D) don't even know sign language. Hard to comprehend but it is true. Either way, if someone grabbed my hands, Deaf signer or not, I'd have kicked their asses. Being Deaf doesn't mean they are exempt from a good old fashioned butt whooping.

BTW, badass that you know some sign language. I definitely want to thank you and applaud you for it. Same goes for ChesusRice (if she actually knows any). I would definitely be a customer of yours whatever it is that you have in your store. Chances of me going to bumfuck Sacramento aren't too good though. It's fucking Sacramento.
