Are my fears irrational?

My wife wants to become a citizen here in the US. China does not recognize dual citizenship so she would have to denounce her Chinese citizenship to become a US citizen. I'm thinking it might be a bad idea because we may have to flee to China at some point in our lives. I atleast like the thought of having it as a back-up plan. That's not totally irrational of me is it? As a permanent resident she can pretty much do everything else but vote. I'm not crazy am I?

Flee to China? Why? If you're fleeing the U.S. for whatever reason, going to China is not going to be much better... Try Sweden, or somewhere nice.

my son had a helluva time getting his wife citizenized (you know what i mean! :?) and spent damn near his whole enlistment bonus accomplishing it...and have to say wasn't worth it cause they not getting any extra tax breaks or gaining extra privileges for all the trouble and money. I LIKE back up plans...smart :hump:

His wife is from China, so I'm gonna go that her family is there and it's a pretty good reason to flee there ;)

Her having US citizenship would actually open up more opportunities in China. Should you have to flee there.

Very true. When you remove all of the technology, politics, false security our country portrays, the only person that can prepare and protect your family is you.

That's interesting. I have a friend from Hong Kong, she lived in England for like 6 years and was here in the US for like 8 years. I thought she had a British citizenship, but I guess not. I wonder how she was able to stay in England for 6 years.

I suggest she keep her Chinese citizenship and try to figure out your visa options, maybe a J1 or something.

P.S. I would absolutely love to live in China or even Japan. Not sure I'd like to live in a city though.

The only problem that an exit strategy with an ocean in it has is ... The ocean. If it were a 'worst case scenario' Interpol will cooperate. A final destination that includes a multi-month stop either north or south, with an identity rearrangement (which should also be in the planning, if safe exit ever becomes a real issue.)

Our exit strategy would be back to one of the reservations, depending on who gave rise to the exit, that's the rez we head to. LoL. Fuck the casinos, we stayed sovereign!
