Lots of complications eh? That sucks for you and your wife, but now things are better right?
Yep, everything is great now! My wife's Bell's Palsy has cleared up to the point where half her face is not paralysed any longer. The carpel tunnel is still there but manageable now. Thanks for asking.

It is what it is. If you don't like it, elect congressmen who will change the tax code. Good luck with that.
It is, indeed, what it is. We don't need to change the laws, we just need to discover what the law ACTUALLY says. There is no law that requires US citizens to pay an income tax on wages earned in the US.
Why do you think the IRS says compliance is voluntary? They know most of us are not liable.

Sounds like Obama did a good job helping you out!

Instead of thanking Obama, why not thank the taxpayers who funded your subsidy, some of whom are at or near the poverty line.
If I invented a sarcasm font, I'd probably never need to work again. I think I'll thank myself for all those previous years I subsidized myself.

If you're living paycheck to paycheck on 50k you're living way beyond your means. Also 25% of $50000 is $12500. Shouldn't you be -$12500 to your name? Maybe you should find another accountant.

He only helps those who don't bother earning enough to support themselves... in Obama-land if you can support yourself, you should be supporting others too.

Its the Commie way.

Yeah cos he couldn't have withheld money towards his taxes throughout the year or anything...

They also use the government to help them steal the wealth they have gained. While they complain that government sucks.
So everyone who makes more than you is a thief? If you make more, do YOU automatically become a thief?

That;s a crock of shit... Middle class is hit harder than anyone.. The 25% you speak of use so many loopholes, and other stuff designed for the rich they don't pay shit compared to what they make.
Some, but not all. Many get caught by the AMT and pay at the maximum rate, with no deductions, credits, exemptions, or exclusions at all, if their income is all earned income. Capital gains, "old money", gets the big breaks. The tax increase didn't cover capital gains at all, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, I didn't even know that was possible until today.
The Earned Income Credit and a couple others are really "credits". If your income was too low to owe any tax, you get a cash payment (a credit) if you have any kids. Also there was one for buying a new car a few years back, and for some alternative energy improvements to your home.
