So raining on people's parades fills you full of happiness? Sure.
Well i dont exactly see the correlation exactly but whatev. So the plant is done. I made "v" cuts at the point where i had topped and made matching cuts on the clones, slid them in an yelled yahtzee for good luck. No wrap, no tape, nothing. Just a couple modified clothes pins to secure the two clones. Then i covered them with ziplocks and had a shot of whiskey, also for good luck :) the plants should be dead by tommorow if it all goes as i think it will :):):)

Way to take the bull by the horns buddy! Nice!!! Best of luck. You will be the King of Grafting before you know. Just remember we must endeavor to persevere....

Ok so im grasping grafting(i think), only REAL way to know is to go hands on im thinking.
Ya buddy, it only took 20 minutes outta my life lol, i challange everyone who hasent done this on this thread to give it a go. Maybe we can come up with some sure fire ways to fail, and to win with grafting :):):) if your subbed already, why not?

No idea on the timing for MJ - what did you wrap them with, and did you make sure the cambial layers are touching each other in the graft? If not, that could cause an issue.. am also curious if you used any form of moss to ensure it retains moisture in that area, especially due to the lights.

I didnt wrap them with anything :) just a clothes pin on them and a bag around it. No moss, i like doing things the easiest way possible and i figured this was it. Cut, pin, cover, done, see what happens. Im expecting total failure but the branches i used i cloned off of anyway so they were getting cut off anyway. If it works cool, if it doesnt they get cut off and i try harder next time. Ill look into when it comes off, it might even be in this tread. Im still waiting for someone else to try it with me :):):)

Having done some reading. You can also use quicker flowering plants to induce flowering in longer flowering plants using grafting. Hypothetically you could graft an auto to a sativa and harvest outdoors in September/Oct at higher latitude.

I know rose gardeners also use grafting to attach certain varieties to others that have more vigorous rooting systems.

some people think its better to graft your female plants onto a strong male plant :)
This is akin to what rose gardeners do. Male plants tend to have stronger root structures. I don't think the extra time is worth it unless you're almost exclusively growing outside.

If the stress wouldn't end up creating hermaphrodites, less healthy plants that are more easily prone to insects and disease. So I'm watching and hoping for the best for the OP. I would LOVE to see this turn out well.
I don't see anything all that stressful here when compared to other common practices. I guess maybe the different levels of hormones might cause some odd plant responses if they are genetically sensitive.

Waahahahaaa, so the grafts were looking ok and i took them out of the bags, took off for a couple hours and when i got back they werent lookin so hot anymore, actually they were lookin pretty bad :( So im going to let them hang out untill tommorow and maybe theyll make a recovery. Doubt it but we can always hope right ;) ive already devised a plan for my next try so ill update tommorow :):):)

So it was a total failure lol. Im pretty sure i took the bags off to early because the one side looked nice until i took the bag off, the other side didnt take well. I took the bags off after two days, next time i will wait longer. Also i used two lower branches to graft onto, next time i will try on the top branches. I think they will be better because the bags made the whole thing sag.
Rain man also used wire to support the graft which ill try also. Still nobodys stepped up to try with me, someones got to have one extra branch lol. I think i was really close, i just needed more time under the bag. Im transplanting soon so ill give it another try after they recover from that, hopefully theres someone else thats with me by then :):):)

It's going to take at least a week minimum for tissue to start forming around the injury area. Keep the grafted plants out of too much light... did you pull many leaves of the scion? perhaps some grafting tape is in order too? It's not expensive... Awesome first go, you were nice and clean about it. It's only a matter of practice now before you nail it.
Seriously, I wish I could do it. My wife isnt exactly happy with my one plant... she would murder me lol

Using a Indica root stock and grafting a Sativa too it will not change the growth habits of the Sativa. Genetic material is not exchanged or altered.

Which would be better for rootstock or scion? Why do you think so? Surely there is a difference... My guess is the sativa is more suitable for rootstock, having to grow in mountainous terrain.
Its an honest question, no sarcasm.
Also, I am sensing a business opportunity here.... Resistant rootstock for cannabis.... It is a great idea!! Anyone out there see this? Outdoors plants need additional protection from nasty ass shit like nematodes or even indoor grows can benefit, where we see fungus gnats...
Someone should be on this! This kind of selection is so much easier than breeding for bigger buds or prettier colors.
