I've heard of the strains you mentioned but I've not grown any of them. The only thing I can suggest is buying strains from actual breeders, not chuckers. I highly recommend kali mist from Serious Seeds if you like a great sativa buzz. The thai/colmbian cross in this journal is a strong sativa too AND easy to grow. There are a ton of strains out there, honestly I'd recommend breeding your own.

My Kali Mist isn't as stoney, it's more clear and functional but also gets you really ripped. I'd also describe the kali buzz as soaring and slightly euphoric whereas this thai/columbian cross from Classic really warps reality. I'm excited to test it in a social situation, like at a bar with some friends. Probably happening this weekend ;). Both are worth a look, IMO.

I hate you so much right now. I hadn't really done a read-through, so I didn't notice you had the Thai/CG/Romulan/99 in this thread. Knowing the genetics, that's probably the most beautiful bud I've ever seen. That girl was a resinous freak of nature. I have some Double Thai that I want to cross with my CG and pollinate w/ White Widow. Cliche, I know, but I actually really enjoy the WW buzz. Is the flowering time the same for pollinated buds? For instance, would I be able to take healthy seeds from the CG/Thai at 16 weeks or would I want to wait even longer?

HB, you ever consider growing Dr. Grinspoon? I've always wanted to see someone do a grow with it just because it can be such a crazy looking strain, since you're a sativa man it might be right up your alley.

That sounds like it could be a good cross. I think DJ short said that crossing indicas to sativas yielded the most interesting meds.

In regards to making seeds, they only need like 5-6 weeks to fully develop so if you're chucking onto a sativa, there's no issue with beans not being ripe when harvest time comes. I usually toss pollen at about day 25 but it really depends on how developed your female is.

I smoked some in amsterdam actually, Grey Area was calling it Quaze haze (the guy at the shop actually said it was Dr. Grinspoon, no idea why they had a different name for it). It was some of the best herb that I've had in Amsterdam, but that's not saying much. The herb over there is good but it's not as good as high quality home grown. It's funny though because we bought a glass pipe to smoke out of for the week so I was very familiar with how quaze haze would affect me after a few hits. I cleaned the glass pipe and brought it back home just so I could smoke some Kali out of it to compare it to the Quaze haze. Kali mist is better. It's more intense, it lasts longer, and the buzz is better. If I thought the Quaze haze was better or worth growing, i'd have ordered a pack of beans. Now that I think about it, the thai/CG/rom/C99 in this journal is better too. Overall though, that Dr. Grinspoon strain is GOOD, but it looks like it yields nothing and IMO, there are better sativas out there.

We're starting to get some smells this week and they're evolving from last week. Generally they all smell like that sweet, syrupy fruit cocktail that we ate as children. Pears, cherries and pineapple/orange are the aromas of the week and I'm sure this will change as things progress. They all seem to be developing quickly, here are the girls...

Day 23 for plant number 2.






Day 24 for plant number 3.






Day 27 for plant number 4 - She's impressively resinous for her age and she has the strongest 'fruit cocktail' smell right now.



Variegated leaves and lots of resin...

What ec levels do you keep everything at when feeding in a soiless mix like promix HB? During flowering specifically but ec levels in grow I suppose are just as interesting to me. I like to feed light as I can but my mountain water fluctuates from .3 -.6 depending on snowfall so im forced to feed light most of the winter. Just curious. Thanks for your hard work and interest in the herbs.

I feed at around 0.6 EC with RO water. I also like to feed as light as I can while still meeting the nutritional needs of the plants.

So you must feed often then? At that low of an ec you could possibly feed every watering as long as you follow through with enough run each feeding? And a salt flush like what, every couple weeks? I like your regime and outcome, just wrapping my brain around it. I found your posts when searching for anyone else who might have used dynas products on the web. I have used a handful of dif companys lines and had success with basically all the ones to be expected but always had a batch running dyna for a kind of stable outcome to base the rest. Thanks for your reply.

It kind of made sense to me that I could either feedat a higher EC less often or I could feed at a lower EC more frequently. I guess I've settled into feeding at a lower EC more often and this is something I took away from growing 100+ day sativas.

Honestly I do the same with my tomatoes. I have a plant that's going on her 5th tomato producing season this year. In a pot, fed very lighlty basically every watering. Its an heirloom we like for sauce so we wanted to keep her around and shes doing great. Until that I had not really seen a tomato plant last more than a season. I also like long day sativas. I take my super lemon haze 12-14 weeks usually. Amazing at 12 but really adds character if taken the extra 2. Thanks again. Been growing way longer than using social forums but hopefully ill get this figured out and start posting some old journals and some new also. Just came up on some blue power seeds from sin city oilers. Looks like a indica possibly kush strain. Tasted amazing at the med cup so we will see how the patients like it.

Day 31 for plant number 2. She has a fairly prominent peach aroma at the moment.






Day 32 for plant number 3. She smells like oranges and earth. I call her my 'holy shit' pheno because she's encrusted in resin already. Keep an eye on this one!






Day 34 for plant number 4. She has the strongest orange/peach aroma right now, just intoxicating!

Subscribed. Been doing research on nutrients in preparation for my first grow which I will be starting in a couple of weeks. I had bought Sensi Grow A/B and after reading your Dyna-Gro vs AN comparison I'll be picking up some Grow and Protekt. It's funny because when researching the AN on their website, the descriptions of their products reminded me of the websites that try to sell you those get rich quick schemes. I should have made the connection then. Anyway I like your philosophy on nutrition and will be modeling my grow after your Pro-Mix implementation. This thread has been very helpful in giving me a plan for a feeding schedule starting point. Thanks!
