How many pots in a 3x3x7 tent?

Hello guys~

I've ordered Secret Jardin DR90 II (36x26x72) for my 400W MH grow.

A friend of mine suggested 5gallon smart pot x 2ea.
but i'm hoping a better result out of this tent.

for better yield, will 3pots be better than 2?

Id go with 4 of them. maybe even five if you can arrange em like the 5 on a pair of dice haha.

Then either top them or LST.

Itll be worth it!

I feel it haha

he has the height for the taller 5 gallons though.

ID go for 5 5 gallons if possible but that might be a little tight.

Not sure how wide the hempy 5 gallons are but if theyre close to a 5 gal bucket you should be able to fit it.

Also if youre only growing 3-5 plants you want to get a good yeild and for that you need good veg time and some tying down so that 400 can get all the buds.

What strain do you plan on runnin?

I don't exactly know its name but it's definitely indica (Kush?) a friend of mine gave me.

I also thought that 72" height isn't enough for 5gal..

My goal is 300g out of this tent..expecting too much for newbie? T^T

Please suggest or advise anything~ thank you so so much!

Learn LST and topping. Theyll save you.

You can def get away with 3 gallon but it all depends on how long you plan to veg em.

You can get a solid 200 with some good topping and a few strings tying shit down.

Check my kings kush journal.

i just LSTd some of mine after topping a few times.

No problem!

i did the fit as many as i can into my gl 120 tent then i saw the light(no pun intended), scrog them bitches then you grow two three beasts and yiled is never ever an issue when done right! Sheet mang you could use 10 gallon smart pots the more room for roots the better im opinion.

It's not so much the space but the 400w light. To get enough light to all plants in my 2x3 I used 4 three gallon containers.

Next grow will be 4 five gallon containers. Bigger pots = bigger roots = bigger buds. More than four is overcrowding and the plant will produce less unless severe trimming methods are used.

The other issue with growing two plants is, well, there's just two plants. If your plant takes a turn for the worse, your down to one, or none. You are new to growing right? Safer to have more plants and reduce the risk of a poor or zero harvest. Signature has link to my grow room.

what could be your reasons for 4 of 3gal in 3x3 space?~ better yield?
Not yield.. in fact I might even lose a few grams (but not much more if any, the difference if everything is controlled well is negligible).

3 gallon pot's are easier to handle, use less resources, I can get much more ventilation throught and depending on how one veg's her out, just as productive as as 5 gallon, although if I was an absolute die hard worrying about speed, 5 gallon would likely even speed up some of the initial growth a few days.

But overall 3 gallons are easier to handle and you can grow and train roughly the same size plant BUT unlike the larger diameter 5 gallon pot, the plants will have space between them and the plants will hang over the edges more of the 3 gallons allowing more ambient light to dance around the sides promoting side growth instead of just strait up growth as you will get more of with 5 gallon (larger diameter) in that space with that small of light trying to get that big of footprint on them.

Again, that's just me.. that's the way I would do it.. everyone has their own ways, I can dig it.. but for me, i could make 4 3 gallons work pretty good with that setup, it's the first setup that comes to mind 'for me'. :)

when I'm done with my current grow, I'm going to put four plants into two recycling bins.

for a closet grow.

As a beginner expect 50-60 grams per lady. You can easily get your goal on fewer plants but I'd recommend 5 to start. You'll see some are better producers. When you find her, you'll be able to improve upon your harvest with a tent of proven phenos and hit your goal on less plants, or more if you choose.

I gotta agree.. 3 gallons are my preference. Much easier to move around when needed.. If I were going to have a long grow I'd use bigger pots. I start my 2 month veg in 1 gallon pots and flower in 3 gallons. Works out great..
