Oh, and by the way... trimming the bush doesn't make the tree bigger, just makes it
appear bigger.

These are at about 4 weeks into a 9 week flowering period. Strain is Eva Seeds Monster, so we expect things to size up nicely. A central high-wattage CFL or HO-T5's will light the inner\undersides of the canopy.

These flowers really have grown in quite nice and compact, so far, tight leaf structure. Used a metal halide that puts out a really nice, white, balanced-spectrum light; up until just recently. Now they will finish under high pressure sodium (supposedly with "enhanced blue spectrum") and they should just about triple in size by the time they are done.
Really, if you want more compact buds and better yields, you might consider such things things as changing your lighting spectrum, intensity of light, decreasing temperatures, etc. Go air-cooled and keep your lights 6-8" away. Use a better reflector. Use a better bulb. Use side lighting.
Remember, white walls and mylar are for reflectivity so more light gets to the plants. That is also what the reflector\hood of the lighting system is supposed to be designed to do. All of these things will enhance the quality of the finished product more than "defoliation". If not, prove it to me.
