Pretty pissed off right now

Alright so girlfriend was blow-drying her hair and broke the tripper or whatever in my room so it shut off my 600 watt HPS etc.

I told her to wait and I'll reset the tripper in 30 minutes (to give the light and ballast time to cool down like you are supposed to do) while I ran outside and gave someone some bud,

of course I come back inside and she had already reset it (within 2-3 minutes)

I want some assurance lol, is my bulb and ballast fucked up now? I have a lumatek ballast, and a sunmaster 600watt bulb.. I'm guessing I will have to buy a bulb a lot earlier now..

after some .. rather vulgar language here I am trying to calm myself down.

FUCKING GIRLS. Can't leave them alone for a minute!
The ballast will automatically re-arc the lamp when it's cooled down. You didn't have to yell at her. She did what I would have done. There's no sense in leaving the power off for 30 minutes. You probably should put your big boy pants on and apologize.

Pro Tip: Don't run so many amps on one circuit to prevent that from happening in the future.

Thanks guys. I know I over reacted a bit but my ballast etc are some of the most expensive things I own so I try to make my shit last and well I guess I got a little ahead of myself.

I just want the best outta my bulb ya know :bigjoint:

no worries though already apologized to gf before this thread just remember reading on the ballast "Hot Re-strike - It is VERY important that the lamp is given adequate time to cool down before it is reignited. You should allow a hot lamp to cool for 20-30 minutes before you try to re-strike it. Hot re-strikes cause premature lamp failure and lumen output degradation. Additionally, the lamp should never be turned off before the lamp reaches full intensity."

all cool bro.
Its your bulb that needs the cool down time more than your ballast. Your going to need to fix the problem with breaker tripping.

Agreed, the fastest (and cheapest method) is to cut the plugs off of any of the shit she plugs into the outlet that caused it to trip.

OR! You could run 80% of the maximum amps for that circuit. Would probably work out better in the end. :p

Was hoping it was to begin with, and it was just a high current device that spiked, but that's probably not the case more than likely. Hope someone is ready for a sunday re-wiring (if background exists to do it safely, that is)

I've been married 30 years..

That was no way to talk or treat someone who meant no harm. Now go in and say you are sorry and tell her you understand you were being an ass and will try to catch it next time before it happens again.

At that point you MIGHT have a chance of her even giving a shit about the 'next grow. *L*

You know you will never hear the end of this. You will calm down naturally and she is going to be getting steamed up - naturally. If you stay together for an eternity it will not be long enough to stop hearing about those damned plants that time.

He might get away with this, if she smokes and he rolls her one.. they relax and enjoy it together while she unwinds a bit.

Meh it's done and over with now lol but she will probably bring it up in the future. I didn't cuss her out or anything but I did mutter a few things while smoking a bowl a few minutes after that alone :p

Loaded her a fat bowl of some perma frost and she has already forgotten what happened :p we have been dating 3 years so we know how to move on from arguments (most the time..)

Yeah main lesson to learn from this is to deal with having a circuit that isnt being used by other things.

Chill out, who the hell are you to tell someone what to do no matter how correct you may be. I'm glad your husband doesn't yell at you but OP thought his old lady burnt up his crop. If that isn't a reason to use some vulgar language, I don't know what is.

if you think that's bad, you should see some of the brown outs we get here when the weather gets vile.

that's why i just replace my lamps annually.

or you could have unplugged the light, reset the breaker, and then plugged the light back in 30 minutes later.

Your bulb & ballast should be fine- we've restarted too soon before (more than once) before we ran additional lines to the room... usually, the bulb AND ballast have built-in safety's and won't fire-up again til ready anyway....

Hope your GF is forgiving!! ;)
